In the dinning hall, President Wallis was leading a prayer. Clarke and Athena made skeptical eye contact as everyone chanted 'we give thanks.' Athena didn't necessarily believe in God because of everything she'd endured from a young girl age. From the abuse of James to the traumatic events of seeing her friends die before her eyes and all the way to the recent war she'd survived. Only part of her wished she didn't survive.

Athena sat beside Clarke and directly in front of Jasper with Monty by his side. The group picked at the white pasta before eating it. As Athena looked up from her food, she saw Dante looking at the two female leaders. The man nodded his head in approval as he raised his glass. The Kane girl pulled a fake smile onto her lips as she drank her cucumber water. She didn't trust this place.

After a delicious dinner, the remaining of the hundred were in their sleeping quarters. Bunk beds were in rows as chatter was heard amongst themselves. Athena sat criss cross on her mattress as her mind wandered to life outside of the mountain. She held onto the slight hope that Bellamy, Octavia, and Raven were still alive.

Her eyes fluttered shut to keep the tears that weld in her eyes inside. She couldn't let herself break again. She was a leader and the hundred looked up to her. She had to give them hope even if she didn't feel it herself.

As her eyes were closed she saw the last encounter she had with Bellamy. Tears in their eyes as they exchanged their last 'I love you.' Now...he was dead. Athena was pulled from her thoughts as a boy spoke, "Miller." The girl gasped as she heard the name of her best friend, she shot out of her bed and saw him. He was wearing dark jeans and a light blue button up.

Athena smiled widely as she made eye contact with the boy. Miller smiled brightly at her as he opened his arms and began to walk towards her. She laughed as she lightly jogged to her friend and embraced him with a warm hug. "Nate." She laughed in complete relief to have her best friend at her side again. "Little too tight, red." He winced at the force of her arms around his waist. "Oh crap, my bad." She muttered quickly as she pulled away from the boy.

"How have you been, Kane?" Her brows rose at his words, "Way better now that you're here. I'm so happy you're okay." He smiled softly at her, "Hm, only three surgeries. Nothing too crazy." He shrugged nonchalantly as Athena snorted up a laugh. "It's good to have you back, Nate. I needed you here with me."

"Oh please" He rolled his eyes playfully at the girl, "you don't need anyone, Athena Kane. You're as tough as they come." For the first time in a while, Athena was happy. She held joy in her heart now that Miller was okay, but her worries would soon make their way back to the surface.

——-

An alarm began to wail, bringing Athena's laughing to a stop. Her smile faltered as she saw Maya leave the room with haste, she mumbled something about someone needing medical attention to Jasper as she left. Her green eyes immediately snapped to Clarke's. The two leaders nodded at one another before jogging out of the dormitory after Maya.

Jasper attempted to stop the girls, but Athena simply pushed past the boy as they ran to the quarantine unit. Multiple men were placing blue hazmat suits on as they approached the scene. "One dead and the other took off his gloves and mask to treat him. He's in Decon and he'll need treatment soon." The man spoke as he zipped up the protective clothing. "Who attacked him?"

"What are they doing here?" Athena rolled her eyes as she snatched the man's key card from his shirt before sliding it across the reader to enter the containment. "Stop! It isn't safe."

"It is for us." Clarke spoke from beside her friend as she pushed the door open to reveal the familiar white hallways of the quarantine unit. A chill ran up Athena's spine as the cold hair hit her. "Someone's gotta keep them out of trouble." She heard Jasper say as he ran into the smaller girls back. "Sorry, A. Didn't see ya there." He spoke sheepishly, making Athena snort up a laugh.

Clarke ran past the two as she entered an open door, a man lied dead with plastic wrap over his body. "Guys, why are you pushing so hard on this? These people-"

"Are lying to us." Clarke cut the big off as her hands hovered over a bullet wound in the dead man's chest. "Grounders don't use guns." Clarke snapped as she looked back at Jasper. "Unless the grounders got the guns from us."

"No. There's a legend that the grounders follow. If they even have a gun within their hands the..." Athena's breath hitched as she remembered Lincoln's words.

"If we so much as touch a gun...the mountain men would go after us. Kill us."

"They will be killed." Athena's voice spoke softly from beside the two. The mountain men. That's where she heard the name from, and it was another reason to not trust the place they were practically forced to be in. "I think our people are alive out there."

Athena nodded at the blonde girls words before Dr. Tsing's voice boomed from behind the trio. "Get them out of here!" The girls eyes widened as two men in hazmat suits brought in a man with third degree burns into the room. The radiation burned him half to death.

——-

"He showed me a different body. Arrow wound." Clarke spoke as she and Athena spoke quietly in the corner of the mess hall. "No. I know what I saw." She shook her head at the girls words. "Yeah, me too."

"Clarke, the grounder legend...it stated that if a grounder shoots a gun that the mountain men would hunt them down and murder them. We have to get the hell out of here." Clarke's blue eyes widened at her as she ran a hand through her blonde hair. "Yeah, all the more reason to not trust them."

"Exactly."

——-

In the grand hall, Clarke and Athena sat in chairs beside one another. They stared at a map of the mountain as they attempted to find a way out. "This is no use Athena grumbled as she crumpled up the paper and tossed it across the room.

"Doctor says I need one more treatment." A guard muttered as he walked by the two girls, his arm on display which showed burns. Athena's mouth parted as she peered up at the man's face. He was the man in medical that was covered in burns from head to toe. Now, he was nearly healed. "What the f-"

Clarke grabbed her forearm as they followed behind the man, he swiped his key card over a door then entered. The two girls sighed before they walked to their empty dorms. "Athena, you're going to think I'm crazy, but-"

"Clarke, you are crazy, but so am I. You know I'd do anything to get out of here." The blonde stepped towards her as she lifted the hem of her grey v-neck, revealing her stitches from the war. "Only the infirmed go into the infirmary."

"Nevermind, you are crazy." Athena spoke as she walked towards a painting on the wall. She picked it up and smashed it to the ground. She picked up a sharp piece of the metal frame as she turned back to her friend. "Look Clarke, I will do this with you, but I need to talk to Miller and Monty first. I can't just leave everyone thinking we went crazy and ditched them."

Clarke nodded at Athena before hugging her, "Just promise me, you'll make it out of here."

"I promise." Athena pulled away from the embrace to meet Clarke's glassy eyes. "And if you see Bellamy...tell him I love him."

"You tell him yourself."

"May we meet again."

"May we meet again." And they will.
