Jules coming off as an asshole and being the rude shit he usually is around Lilith is just him trying to somehow mask the fact he actually deeply cares about her. He has and even after Lilith moved out still had the deep fear of something again happening to her or her committing again which led him to the thought that the abuse would keep her on track and telling her that she was nothing without him would make her stay so she would be safe.
Not all of his abuse is related to that a lot of his abuse also just comes from his deep anger and a hidden hatred because she was always somehow favoured by her mother. But deep down he just thought all he did was 'good' and just keeping her safe. As Jonas moved in Jules was very reluctant about that,finding it a bad idea to let a random man move in with them,fearing for Liliths safety around Jonas. But after a lot of convincing from Lilith and some time of letting him life there Jules mind slowly settled and he started being okay with Jonas living with them,even tho he would sometimes stil get kinda paranoid about them being alone even tho he knew nothing would happen,he couldn't really help it.
