Theo POV
Thank god for the last bell. I'm so done with school and naive kids who only care about popularity and trivial things. they don't realize that they have a few more years of high school left. I don't have to worry about that since I run a very powerful mafia, something I grew up around.
But I'm looking forward to hanging out with Elijah and the boys; I'm done being around immature kids who need to grow up. However, there was this one girl who caught my attention because she was different from the others. She didnt care what the other kids said or did; she just stayed in her own little bubble and minded her own business.
She was working on a beautiful drawing of wolves, meticulously shading each detail. Unlike any other girl I'd met before, she wasn't trying to get into my pants or talking my ear off without caring about my feelings. I could tell she was different.
Her mood changed after that girl, Britney, came up and tried to flirt with me– if you can call it that. I ignored her to the point of nearly falling asleep. Seriously, can she stop talking for once? Just as I was getting comfortable, the bell rang, interrupting my nap. I got up and headed in what I hoped was the direction of my next class. Since I hadn't been given a tour of the school. Fortunately, I found the right room and walken in. I noticed the girl from before was in the same class, so I decided to sit next to her. I'm not much of a people person but I can tell she has an interesting life story waiting to be uncovered, and I can't wait to learn more about it.
After what felt like ages, the bell finally rang for lunch, and I was thankful. I was starving, having been shoved out of the house at the crack of dawn before I could grab anything to eat. As you can probably tell, I'm not a morning person. I walked to the line to get my food. Once I paid, I scanned the cafeteria for the one person I needed to talk to. Spotting him, I smirked and headed towards his table.
As I approached the group of guys, their laughter abruptly stopped. The one facing away from me turned to see what had caught their attention and saw that I was standing there. He stood up and cracked his knuckles, expression cold as if we were about to fight. The rest of the cafeteria fell silent, all eyes were on us. I put my food down, and then the guy broke into a smile. I smirked as we exchanged a bro hug. What you thought we were going to fight nah, this guy has been my best mate since we were kids.
Elijah and I go way back, practically since birth. Our families are really close, so we spent a lot of time together as kids. Growing up in the mafia world, both our dads had their own mafias but made a truce long before I was born. Over the years, they became close friends, which meant Elijah and I were always together. In the mafia life, you have to choose your friends wisely, or it could become deadly.
Friends can betray you without warning—trust me, I know how that works. But back to the present: we all sat down at Elijah's table, talking about the things we needed to get done tonight. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder. Before I could turn around and break the arm of whoever it was, I heard her whiny voice. It was Britney. Too tired to deal with her high-pitched voice, I told her to fuck off in 'a respectful way of course'. She threw a hissy fit, but I finally told her off, and she left. Thank God. The boys were still laughing as I rolled my eyes.
Towards the end of lunch, I saw Britney walking towards me again. Does this girl ever stop trying to get into guys pants? I really wonder. But she walked past us and up to Luna. Judging by the look on Luna's face, it wasn't a pleasant conversation. Suddenly, Britney poured her drink on Luna. Before anyone could react, Luna stood up and slapped her across the face, causing the entire cafeteria to gasp.
Holy crap, I did not see that coming. Without a second glance, Luna left the cafeteria, while Britney, furious, stormed back to her table. Well, she deserved it. The guys started talking about how Luna had never reacted like that before. She looked like a completely different person, finally standing up for herself in a way we'd never seen.
