When we arrived at the club, I parked the car and we made our way to the front of the line. People yelled at us, but I didn't care. The bouncer saw who we were and let us in. The club was packed, so Elijah and I tried to avoid the crowded dance floor and headed upstairs to the bar area. There weren't many people up there, so we sat down on stools and waited for the bartender. When he finally came over, he introduced himself, "Hello, I'm Zack, one of the bartenders. What can I get for you?"

When we arrived at the club, I parked the car and we made our way to the front of the line. People yelled at us, but I didn't care. The bouncer recognized us and let us in. The club was packed, so Elijah and I navigated around the crowded dance floor and headed upstairs to the bar area. There weren't many people up there, so we found some stools and sat down, waiting for the bartender. When he finally came over, he introduced himself, "Hello, I'm Zack, one of the bartenders. What can I get for you?"

Elijah and I exchanged a glance, considering our options, before both saying, "I'll have a whiskey."

Zack nodded and said, "Coming right up. Nice seeing you again, Elijah." He walked to the other side of the bar to fetch the whiskey.

Elijah turned to me and asked, "Why did we drive into the city to drink?" I just looked at him with raised eyebrows. Someone's in a mood.

"Because I thought we should get out and have fun for one night," I said. He looked at me like I was crazy and rolled his eyes.

"We could have stayed at the warehouse and drank with the guys," he said. I knew he was right, but I just had to see her and make sure she was okay.

"Okay, and I wanted to get out of there but also drink, so here we are." He gave me a skeptical look, clearly not convinced.

The bartender called out, "Hey Luna, can you go in the back and get more whiskey?"

Okay, maybe I had checked her workplace in the file. I only did that to keep an eye on her, I swear.

"Sure thing, babe," Luna yelled back. Wait, hold up—did she just call him "babe"? As she walked past us to go in the back, the bartender came over and set our drinks down.

Before Zack could walk away, Elijah spoke up. "You and Luna look like the perfect couple. How about you show us a kiss?" I glared at him, feeling like I might tear him a new one or just murder him, because he knows how I feel about her, even though I don't want to admit it. I stayed quiet, while Elijah wore a big, goofy smirk on his face that I would gladly slap off.

Zack just laughed and walked toward other customers. A few minutes later, I saw Luna come out with more whiskey. Zack approached her and said something that made her laugh. She looked free and happy here, like nothing could bring her down, but I could still see the pain in her eyes. That's the very reason I'm here—to help her.

I'm pulled out of my thoughts when I see Zack lean down and kiss her on the cheek. She let out a beautiful laugh that could make any room of people smile. She handed him the whiskey bottles and walked over to the waiting customers.

The doors slammed open, and someone stomped up the stairs. When they reached the top, they yelled, "Luna, get your ass over here!" I turned my head to see James approaching her. The once beautiful smile on her face vanished, replaced by pure fear. She looked so terrified that I wished I could just hug her and tell her everything would be alright.

James was standing right in front of me, with a look that could kill. I knew he would if he got the chance. I set down my drink and stood in front of him, bracing myself. I couldn't believe this might be my last night alive by the looks of it.
