{Episode 8} Saved By Chance

The teenage boy started panicking and desperately called out for help while pressing on her wounds trying to stop the blood. "HELP! S-SHE COLLAPSED!" Yelled the teenage boy distressed. No one came, and the boy not knowing what to do stayed with her. He screamed horrified "HELP! PLEASE She COLLAPSED" Suddenly Dark started running down the stairs as fast as he could and when he stood in front of her bleeding body he said "Fuck" he pondered for a second and pulled his phone out. "Do you know any hospital nearby?" He asked the boy. "Uhhhhh oh yeah! The Curadores hospital is near, but I don't remember the number," Dark nodded and looked for it on maps and a number popped up. He called immediately, "Hi Curadores hospital, I am Ricardo how may I help you??" said the hospital receptionist. "Hi, uhh we need an ambulance immediately a woman is bleeding out due to gunshots." responded Dark. Ricardo said "UH OH, MAYA WE NEED YOU IN AN AMBULANCE IMMEDIATELY!! What is your exact location??" Dark responded with urgency "The old grocery store Extra Stuff in the.." The receptionist knowing, didn't question anything but he interrupted "Ok we are sending help NOW" The receptionist hung up, and Dark got down and also pressured her wounds. He looked at the teen boy and said "Go back up where the others are, an ambulance is coming. I need you to lead them here when they come." The teenage boy feeling like he owes his life to Shadow, nodded, ran upstairs, and went outside with the others. The others hugged him and noticed he was covered with blood, they asked him what happened he explained everything. Dark exhaled and looked at Shadow and thought "Are you really evil?? I mean, you haven't lied..about anything you've said. Soooooo..ha..I can't believe I am doubting everything even my morals because of you..." The 12 minutes they waited felt like an eternity, when the ambulance arrived all the survivors showed them the way, a light tan woman with a well-formed body got off first. Her hair is a very dark grayish blue in one big ponytail because of how long it is. Her eyes are the same color as her hair. She ran downstairs carrying an oxygen mask. She was quick, then she sprinted to Shadow and put the oxygen mask on her. She also pressed on her wounds as hard as she could, two other people followed her they were two strong men one was tall and the other not so much. Dark noticed that the woman had a weird skin-colored necklace that was the size of her whole neck, he had never seen anything alike but he ignored it. The men caught up and picked Shadow up, the woman stood up holding the oxygen pump with one hand and pressuring it with the other. Dark stood up and followed them also pressing her wounds, they went upstairs to find the others. They saw the men carry her and immediately offered help. Some helped carry her, others opened the doors letting them through, and the rest pressed on her wounds. When they got outside the woman said "Thank you for the help but, we have to get her in the ambulance and we are the only ones who fit." With a weird almost robotic-like, raspy voice. They all nodded, Dark and the others let go. The woman also let go and opened the door, the men laid Shadow on a bed. The woman hopped in and pressured her wounds once again, the tall men also got in with her to pressure Shadow's wounds. The other man went to the front and drove off. Dark and the others stood watching the ambulance get smaller and smaller as it got distant. The teenage boy said, "Are we really going to stay here watching the ambulance?!.." The others looked at him confused and the teenage boy continued "..She saved us! Shouldn't we make sure she is safe??.." The pregnant woman nodded and said, "We should!" All the others nodded except Dark he said "You guys aren't in any condition to walk 12 minutes, it's risky." the teenage boy responded immediately "She risked her life to save me, she used her body to shield me..SO I WILL DO ANYTHING!" The boy ran off to the hospital knowing exactly where it was, Dark reached out to him shouting "WAIT!" The boy ignored him. He put his hands on his head thinking what he should do. The pregnant woman followed the teenage boy and Dark decided to run chasing them, the others also followed them. In the hospital, the ambulance had arrived and was now taking Shadow to the surgery room "MAKE WAY!!" Yelled the woman to everyone in the hall. "Maya! Luis and Evan need to go to their room immediately after they drop her off. Soo you'll be on your own." Said Ricardo. Maya nodded and said, "Ok, thank you, Ricardo!" When they got in the room, they laid her on the bed. Luis said "Uuuf tu tienes que hacer lo sola? Pobrecita! Pero se que tu puedeeees!" Maya smiled and said "Ayy gracias! Pero ya vete! Que la tengo que salvarla!" Evan said "Wish you luck" "You too!" Responded Maya pushing them out "Go back to work!" Said Maya playfully. They left and she locked the door, she turned around and her expression softened with teary eyes. "Liam...why did you do this to yourself?" She said as she walked up to her body, she took her mask off setting it aside holding the tears in seeing Liam's almost lifeless face. She put a breathing mask on her and injected Shadow with anesthesia, connected her to a heart monitor, and put a tiny syringe that pumps IV fluids in her arm. Then she grabbed scissors, she hesitated at first but cut the suit where the bullets were and took every bullet out. She stitched the bullet wounds back up and put her hands over all the wounds healing them. She glanced at the mask, sighed, and picked it up as she thought "Liam, what made you make such a rash decision??" She walked to a sink in the room and washed the mask with water, soap, and tears. She couldn't hold them in anymore, when she finished washing it she wiped her tears and put the mask over the breathing mask. She rolled the bed out of the surgery room into another room, she set her bed to the left side of the room. She instantly closed the window's curtain, took her hearing aids off, and put them to charge. Then she sat next to the bed staring anxiously at Liam. A sudden knock made her jump, she stood up and opened the door to find a very skinny teen boy standing in front, behind him there was a very malnourished pregnant woman, behind them stood a man wearing a black mask covering his mouth and nose he was wearing black pants and a black hoodie, and his hair covered his eyes. Behind him were many others in poor conditions. Maya stood there noticing they were all in horrible conditions except for the man wearing a black mask. They looked at Shadow lying defenseless on the bed and tears filled their eyes, especially the boy, he felt guilty and said "We, are sooo sorry...we did that to you.." Maya's expression softened and she said "You guys didn't do that to her, it was her decision..but the important thing is to get you all checked up!" Maya's words made them feel better, she walked out and closed the door behind her. She called her colleagues, Dark left. Maya and her coworkers helped all of the kidnapped people, they fed them and gave them a hospital room. Maya walked into all of their room to "check on them" but she secretly healed each of them when she entered the boy's room he asked her "Will she be ok?" Maya responded warmly "Of course she'll be ok!! And it's all thanks to all of you! You guys did everything in your power to make sure she came here safely and now she is safe!!!" The teen covered his face and cried as he said "What we did was nothing compared to what she did..and now she is fighting for her life because of me," Maya patted his shoulder and said "You did more than enough because now she is here in this hospital, she is fighting for her life but you saw how strong she is!! She'll make it! And it is not your fault.." The boy uncovered his face and responded hysterically "If I would have been stronger she wouldn't have shielded me with her body!!" Maya's eyes widened in shock but then they softened with her expression she hugged the boy and said compassionately while healing him "It's not that you weren't strong enough, it's that she chose to protect you over herself..." Her words calmed the boy down and he wiped his tears. She walked to the door and said "Sleep well!" he responded "Thanks" She walked out of the room and went to the receptionist's desk to find Ricardo horrified, "What's the matter?" Asked Maya concerned "Sooo uh y'know that case of people getting kidnapped??" asked Ricardo. Maya nodded "Yeah what about it?" "We have the kidnapped people here, look!" Said Ricardo showing her his computer. The news was playing on his computer, he paused it to a picture of the teen boy. Maya immediately said "Don't let the government know we have them..uhhh we have to call their families without the government knowing." in an extremely low voice. Ricardo nodded and started checking for the phone numbers everywhere. "While you do that I'll check on Shadow." She said before walking to Shadow's room. He said "Ok" and continued searching. She walked to the door and opened it, when Maya walked in she noticed she still hadn't woken up. she sighed and closed the door behind her. She looked at Liam in distress but smiled feeling proud of her and said "Like mother, like daughter"
