I stared at the door of Level of 5. My arms were crossed, and I shifted a little. I was not ready to tackle another level yet. However, Blake had calmed down, and Austin was acting as if he wasn't knocking on death's door just a few hours ago. In fact, he was acting disturbingly calm for what he went through. I spent some more time studying after Austin had come in, but there was really nothing of too much importance for me. And now I was standing in front of the door, waiting for the rest to come.
Every level was different, and we really had no idea of what was going to happen next. At the same time, each level was dangerous. It could kill us, and I doubted that we would respawn back here if we did.
I heard footsteps and turned my head to see Rey approaching me again. He pushed his hands into his pockets.
"Alright let's tackle this son of a –" Hayden started.
"Language, there's a kid here," Austin interrupted."I'm not a kid!"
"Oh no, you're totally a child," I stated, staring at Blake who frowned and shook his head at me. "There's no debate in that regard."
Blake rolled his eyes and Austin reached for the door. He stared at me, then at the rest. "Here we go."
"Stay alive folks!" Hayden clapped his hands together before he practically strolled in through the door.
"No promises," I answered. I took a step forward but frowned as Austin lightly touched my arm. I stopped and looked at him as he stared at me.
"Stick close to me, ok?" he said.I frowned and nodded. "Sure – it's not like I'm going to split up."
"Just saying, stick close," Austin muttered, before he motioned for me to step inside. I nodded again and followed him as he walked through the door along with Blake. I blinked and frowned as I was staring at a rather large reception. All of us turned in circles.
"Well, this is just messed up," Hayden muttered. "A school really?""A school at night, nothing screams more haunted," Austin muttered. "Vera?"
I looked around at the polished floors. Lights were turned on, but they were very dim, and flickering from time to time. This was even worse than the offices we were in, and it meant that we would have to explore so much more.
"I knew school was evil," Blake said.
"This is not going to be an excuse for you to drop out," Austin said.
"Says who? I claim trauma."
"Nothing scary has even happened yet," Rey said. "Hopefully, whatever is here – is not going to impale someone.""Yeah, wouldn't count on that," Austin turned to look at me. "What you thinking?"
"Ghost, crazy student, zombie, take your pick — but schools are usually also monster based. Something lurking in the halls," I said. "We just need to be careful, and I am guessing that lockers are good hiding spots."
"So keep an eye for — well this is interesting," Austin tugged a flashlight out of his pocket."We get flashlights?" I patted my pocket, and sure enough there was something there. I tugged it out and turned it on. It lit up the walls a whole lot better. "What about another thing – oh –" There was something else in my pocket. I tugged it out. It looked like another flashlight, but when I switched it on, it was purple.
"A UV, that's cool," Rey said.
"Well, I'm guessing we need to use this pretty much everywhere to catch clues on what we need to do to beat the game." I sighed. "This is going to be tough."
