Vera's POV
For a few seconds, I knew I was falling. That feeling of weightlessness wrapped around me, but my mind just went completely blank as I saw flashes of yellow. Then I had the air knocked out of my lungs as my back firmly hit the floor. I gasped hard as I stared up at a yellow ceiling. It was an awfully familiar color, one I had seen so many times. A pale sickly yellow that didn't belong anywhere but in one game alone.
I grunted, gasping. I was finally able to breathe again. But the air was musty and moldy. Pushing myself up, my fingers sinking into the yellow carpet. I finally managed to stand up. I turned in circles. I had to be dreaming. Surely I was dreaming? This couldn't be real. I pinched myself and winced as the pain shot through my arm. I WASN'T dreaming, but this couldn't be true or real...
I was surrounded by yellow walls, corridors, everything. It all looked the same. The yellow ceiling with bright white LED lights, a yellow stained carpet, and yellow walls with intricate patterns on them. But everything looked the same. I knew exactly where I was, but it shouldn't be possible.
I was in the Back Rooms — or a version of it anyhow. I took a deep breath in and out as I slowly walked in circles. How on EARTH did I get here? What happened? All I could recall was the fact that I was streaming. I remembered sitting down, and downloading Game-Lock...
This could not be possible. I pinched myself again and winced. But nothing happened. I walked up to a wall and placed my hand against it. I pushed slightly. But it was firm, rock solid, just like a real wall.
Did I actually no-clip into the backrooms? My heart raced as I stumbled back. "This can't be real..."
My knees buckled, but I swallowed and shook my head. I needed to snap out of it! I didn't know what was happening, but I did know the backrooms. I knew that it could either be completely harmless ... or something could be residing here with me. I needed to stay quiet, especially now. That, and I needed to find something. I needed answers, and I needed to find my way out.
I took some careful steps forward, trying to look around. I reached a corridor and peaked my head out. There was a constant buzz of the lights. I could hear every single step that I took, and even if I swallowed, it sounded incredibly loud.
I stopped as footsteps echoed. Someone or something was running. In fact, it sounded like a couple of footsteps and right in my direction. I didn't want to find out what that was–I didn't want to know. But which way to go? I was literally in the worst maze in the world. I tried sticking to the left. Sometimes, picking a side and sticking to it was the way to backtrack if I needed to. But then again, where would I have to backtrack? It wasn't as if I could find the exact spot that I no-clipped into.
"Stop!"
I stopped and turned around, as there were three people behind me. A man with short blonde hair and in a green shirt waved at me. His expression was just as startled as I was.
"We won't hurt you," another man called out. He was taller, with inky black hair, standing next to a young boy, who was maybe eleven or twelve. "My name is Austin. This is Blake, and this man right here is Rey. You just arrived? We heard you fall."
I swallowed, my mouth dry as I slowly walked towards them. "Yes..."
"Do you know where we are?" Rey asked.
"The backrooms."
"The backrooms?" Austin asked."Austin, that's not good," Blake said, staring up at Austin. "That is so not good."
"Backrooms? What do you mean we are in the backrooms?" Reys repeated.
"It's a little hard to explain, but like Blake said, it's not good." I echoed as I finally reached them. "What happened before you guys fell?""Game-Lock," Austin said. "We wanted to play Game-Lock. Next thing I know, Blake and I landed here."
"Same," Rey said. "I thought it would be kinda good to just get away — that's not the point. The thing is, we need to get out of here."
"No kidding, but I don't know how to.""What do you know about the backrooms?"
"Each one is the same, but different. You never really know what could happen, but the main goal is to find the exit."
"Alright, so we stick together," Rey said. "And find the exit."
"Except if the backroom lore is the same — we'll end up falling to our deaths.""What?" Austin frowned.
"That's how every backroom game I played ends..."
"We're in a game? We're in Game-Lock?""I don't know. I only know games, but I'm just as in the dark as you are." I said as I crossed my arms. "But anything could be in here as well — the most notorious is — what's wrong?"
Rey's and Austin's expressions changed. They were no longer looking at me, but behind me, and all three slowly took a step back.
I slowly turned around.
"Oh no..."

KorkuMy mouth grew dry as I stared at the red eyes looking in our direction. My heart was racing fast as I was pressed tightly against Austin, who himself did his hardest not to move. I glanced at him for a second, and he was staring at me with a frown...
