"another day, another dolla" my father and I said in unison as I got out the car.

Today was a new day that I'd try to make the best of, despite my feelings of sadness about my mother.

She had arrived safe and was settling into what would be her new home for awhile. I spoke to her on my way to school, and she sounded happy so that's good.

Speaking of school, imagine missing two days of what our teachers referred to as our crucial time.

I push my hands down into my skirt pocket as I felt a vibration come from my phone while heading towards the main gate of my school.

Looking at the time before pulling my phone I realise the clock had just turn to seven.

Why we deh yah suh early?

Same ting mi wah know.

Opening my phone, I answered the messages from Aiden letting him know that I had arrived at school before opening the group that consisted of me, Jaylen and Jinelle.

Rolling my eyes, I quickly exit the chat and put away my phone to avoid their further mockings.

One thing wid St.Jordan's pickney dem, them ago reach exactly pon time or dem ago late. Cause why the school so empty.

Entering my form class, I was greeted by a group of sixth formers instead of eleventh grades.

Why dem in yah?

I furrow my eyebrows before clearing my throat to catch their attention and announce my presence.

The group of sixth formers turn around to face me and smiles found several of their faces as they recognised me.

Head Girl perks I guess.

Ex head girl

"supmn gwan Savannah " the head perfect asked.

"no ennuh just a wonda how unuh in here" I replied walking towards my desk at the back right hand corner of the room.
