"How are you my bacha?" Mumma asked over the facetime. I was sitting in the living on the couch with laptop in my lap and talking to her. It was early morning in Canada, and she was sitting at the dining table.
"I'm good mumma. I'm enjoying being here more than I thought I would," I said excitedly. I had a wide grin on my face the entire time which didn't go unnoticed by her.
"I know India is amazing but I didn't know it was that magical that you won't stop smiling," she said and I diverted my eyes away from the screen trying to hide my grin but it refused to leave my face. The thought of being with him kept creeping up making me feel all giddy. The way I fell asleep with him feeling so comfortable was something rare. And his reaction to me kissing him had occupied my thoughts completely. He looked so amazed by it as it was something unexpected for him.
"What is the reason behind this smile?" She asked that made me bring my eyes back to the screen. "Or should I say who?"
"Mumma stop," I said hiding my face with my hands.
"So that means there is someone?" She said and I removed the hands off my face.
"There is. His name is—" I said in a low voice. All of a sudden papa appeared on the screen behind mumma out of nowhere looking all tensed and panicked.
"His? A guy? What's his name? What does he do? What does his parents do? Does he have any siblings? Did he behave properly with you? I swear if he did something inappropriate I will—" he said everything in one breath.
"Papa calm down. Breathe," I said in an attempt to relax him, but he was nowhere close to it.
"I knew I should've sent Yash with you. You know what, I'm taking the next flight and coming there right now. Come help me pack my bags jaan," he said pulling on mumma's arm, but she took it out of his hold.
"What would it take for you to calm down pati dev?" Mumma said looking up at papa.
"I can't tell that in front of our daughter," he said, and mom blushed at his comment. Putting the laptop down on the couch, I walked away to give them some privacy.
"Adhvita where did you go?" I heard mumma yell over the facetime that made me come back to my seat and place the laptop in my lap again.
"If you both are done, can I tell you guys about him?" I asked but dad began to freak out again.
"You are going to stay away from him okay?" He ordered and I crossed my arms at the front getting disappointed. "What if he wants your property?"
"But papa—" I whined.
"No if no but, only listening to papa," he said and mom just sighed.
"Mumma tell papa to at least hear about him. I'm sure you both will like him. Papa even you fell for mumma which led to your marriage then why are you being so unfair to me? Imagine if nana ji had said no to you then?" I complained.
