"Sooooooo we shouldn't be fighting you but we should be fighting the Authority?" I break the stream of 'I will kill you'.
The Dark Entity stops and looks at me, dead in the eye. "Exactly. Which is why you are so important for my plans, because I plan to keep on fighting the Authority even if it takes my life to do so."
I gulp and remember the teacher who had died to try and make the world a better place. The Dark Entity looks at me and says in a tired voice, "If you don't want to do it then that's okay. I don't expect you to."
I remember the memory of a young boy learning how to control his power. I remember his teacher helping him grow into a person who could control his power as to not hurt anyone. And I remember that teacher, even when dying, was still thinking about others.
And I decide I want to die that way, if I cannot die from old age. I stick my tongue out that the Dark Entity, "Yeah sure, I'll do it." Everyone around me smiles. Emmie slaps my back in celebration.
"I would've dragged you to help the poor guy anyway," she says, smiling.
"Your attitude has changed so much," I mutter, rubbing my back.
"Yes, but my texting style will always be the same." I groan.
"So, how are we supposed to pull this off?" Delkie asks.
In reply, the Dark Entity waves his hand and a scroll unravels again. What's the deal with scrolls? On the scroll, there are dates and lines and arrows and questions marks mapped around one bubble containing one single word: Plan.
"The Authority operates to a certain pattern. Every week, he will send out one of his puppets to send word of news, which can be distinguished by the white robes and white hair. Every month, he will send a huge thunderstorm to remind everyone of his power. And on the blood moon, he will make and appearance to 'appease everyone', which is when we will strike." The scroll uses an invisible pen to circle one date: 6/6/6.
"Uhhh, isn't it the year 3000?" I ask.
"For you guys, time moves much faster. For us, it is still the year 2006. For you, it is 3000. Convenient date, do you not see?" murmurs the Dark Entity.
"666 is the demon number," he says impatiently when none of us answer. After the clarification, all of us nod slowly.
"Soooo how are we going to take him down?" Emmie asks.
"Simple. I have helpers in Externalism, and I would like to ask if Coquetta could perhaps convince the Entity to help us. And the Immortal and her friends are also helping us. The prophecy said that the team of six would band with rebels, which means I need to know what the two guides are doing here." Selkie and Delkie both visibly shrink at the attention.
"If they're here, they're here. You needed extra help, didn't you?" I say cuttingly. "Why don't you just accept that they've joined the team? They can help. If they want." I look at them. They both nod while looking at their partner. I sniffle silently. How young love blooms in the moonlight-
Neverminddddd.
"I will fight him first. I will call for everyone except the Immortal. Then the Entity will join us, and finally, the Immortal will announce her presence and then she will help us defeat the Authority. The Authority doesn't know you're here, by the way," the Dark Entity adds, "so it will probably make him go into shock. He's getting on in his ages."
I snicker. What a way of saying someone is getting old. Usually we 3000 people just say 'caseoh but in age'. Which means their age number is really big.
"Any more questions?" the Dark Entity says, his voice considerably quieter. "If not, I'll leave you to your own devices. You can leave, you can stay, whatever. I have my things to do."
"Oh, just don't go to the room at the end of the hallway on the left," he adds, before leaving with a swish of his cloak. Just like his teacher.
Coquetta stands up and crawls back through the tunnel, not waiting for anyone. The rest of us sit awkwardly in a circle.
"Are we supposed to be here?" Selkie says uncertainly. Elvar kisses the top of his head.
"Of course you are," Elvar says sternly. "Don't let people tell you otherwise."
Delkie hugs Alver a little bit tighter.
"Soooooo should we explore or go back? It's like, 2 AM in the morning right now or something," Emmie says, checking the grand clock in the living room.
"I'm not really in the mood to explore, and besides, Alver is shutting down," Delkie says while lifting Alver up and disappearing.
"What did he do?" I ask in astonishment.
"He can teleport," says Selkie with a tired smile. "It took me a long time to find this place, so I want to sleep." He opens his arms to let Elvar carry him bridal style back through the tunnel.
So now it's just the three of us.
"I'm going to go and crash in my bed, I still gotta entertain the Entity in the morning," says Axel, stretching and yawning. "Skating," he adds at my confused look.
Once Axel is gone, Emmie turns to me.
"Do you like him?" she says, which makes my mouth drop right open.
"Well I mean, you did want a boyfriend badly," she says and leaps off the couch she was sitting on. "Imma blow now, goodnight." She leaves silently through the tunnel, leaving me alone.
Did I make the right choice when agreeing to help the Dark Entity? What if he's just leading us on a wild goose chase? Or worse, what if he is the Authority?
But...
Memories don't lie.
"Aren't you going to leave now?" comes the Dark Entity.
"Yeah," I say, snapping out of my thoughts.
I climb into the tunnel.
"Goodnight," I add.
Just as I turn to climb back to my bedroom, I hear a 'kill them'.
