Jungkook sat on a cold, hard bench in the dimly lit room, his posture relaxed yet tense, betraying his inner turmoil. Beside him, Mingyu occupied a seat with an air of casual indifference, his gaze occasionally drifting to the nurse being questioned by the police. The room was charged with an air of procedural efficiency, punctuated by the clatter of paperwork and the murmur of hushed voices.

Across from them, the nurse, visibly shaken, was being interrogated. Her face was flushed with stress, and her eyes darted nervously between the officers and Jungkook. The police officer leading the interrogation, a middle-aged man with a stern expression, addressed the nurse with a commanding tone.

"Is he the one who saved you from Joonseo's attack?" the officer asked, gesturing toward Jungkook, who sat with an expression of disinterest, his gaze drifting to the ceiling.

The nurse took a deep breath before responding, her voice wavering slightly. "Sir, I have already told you. The person who saved me was just a stranger. I can't afford to make a mistake in recognizing him."

Mingyu's lips curled into a mocking smile as he watched the exchange, a hint of amusement playing in his eyes. He recalled a similar scenario from the past—the case involving Cyril's murder. At that time, Ken had also refrained from speaking out against him, leaving unresolved tensions and unanswered questions.

Mingyu leaned back in his chair, his tone dripping with condescension. "Tell me one thing: whether it's a boy or a girl, why does no one speak out against you?"

The police officer, unfazed by Mingyu's sardonic comment, continued to gather details from the nurse. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Mingyu's laughter filled the room, a discordant note amid the gravity of the interrogation.

Jungkook's face remained impassive, his emotions concealed behind a mask of boredom. Mingyu's behavior was a source of irritation, but Jungkook chose to remain silent, his mind preoccupied with the tumultuous events of the day.

Mingyu's amusement persisted as he addressed Jungkook directly, his voice laced with mockery. "Is there a heart anywhere in your body?"

Without waiting for a response, Mingyu suddenly called out to his junior, a young officer stationed nearby. "Dongmin, lock him up."

The order was issued with a casual nonchalance, as if Mingyu were directing traffic rather than dealing with a complex legal situation. Dongmin, a junior officer with a slightly bewildered expression, moved to comply with Mingyu's directive. The room's atmosphere grew heavier with the added tension of impending confinement, as Jungkook's fate seemed to shift from a matter of justice to a pawn in Mingyu's manipulative game
