Jungkook sat in the jeep, staring blankly at Joonseo's lifeless body sprawled on the ground. The air was thick with tension and unresolved rage. For several long minutes, he remained frozen in place, his gaze locked on Joonseo as if willing him to remain still. But then, something shifted—the almost imperceptible twitch of Joonseo's eyelids, the slow, painful opening of his eyes. The man stirred and began to rise, his movements labored but determined.

Jungkook's heart pounded with a surge of adrenaline and anger. He had come so close to achieving the justice he felt was necessary, but now Joonseo was back on his feet, his escape imminent. Jungkook's dark eyes, filled with a potent mix of hatred and frustration, remained fixed on Joonseo. With clenched fists and a grim resolve, he reached for the jeep's ignition, his intention clear—he would not let Joonseo get away.

But just as Jungkook's fingers grazed the ignition, a new sound broke the tension—a voice, calm and indifferent.

"Hi. I'm not disturbing you, am I?"

The voice belonged to Mingyu, who nonchalantly opened the passenger seat door and slid into the jeep. He settled into the seat with a nonchalant air, his gaze following Jungkook's line of sight toward Joonseo, who was now attempting to flee.

Mingyu's demeanor was cool and detached as he pulled out a gun and aimed it at Jungkook. The suddenness of the action drew Jungkook's attention away from Joonseo, his eyes now meeting Mingyu's. There was no trace of fear in Jungkook's expression—only a cold, unyielding resolve.

"Oh, so you were following Joonseo?" Mingyu continued, his tone taunting. He seemed almost amused by the situation. "Why don't you try to kill him? Go ahead, kill him."

Mingyu's words were meant to provoke, to test Jungkook's resolve, but Jungkook remained unmoved. His gaze was steady, and he made no attempt to respond or react to Mingyu's provocation.

The sound of sirens grew louder, and soon the area around the apartment building was swarming with police. Jungkook, Mingyu, and Joonseo were concealed from view, hidden from the approaching law enforcement. The police were busy arresting Joonseo's wife, who was sobbing uncontrollably and pleading for mercy. Her cries of innocence were met with the cold reality of the charges against her husband—the attempt on a nurse's life.

As the police conducted their operations, Mingyu's gun remained trained on Jungkook. The atmosphere in the jeep was charged with a tense silence, broken only by the distant sounds of the arrest.

"Didn't I tell you?" Mingyu said, his voice dripping with menace. "Every time you go after revenge, I'll be there to interrupt. Remember?"

With an almost theatrical flair, Mingyu pulled the trigger of his gun, but the weapon remained silent. The click of the empty chamber was a deliberate choice, meant to taunt rather than threaten. Jungkook's eyes never wavered from Mingyu's face, showing no sign of intimidation.

Mingyu chuckled, a sound laced with dark amusement. "I knew you wouldn't fear my gun. What you truly fear is that if you pursue him, the police will capture him. His guilt will be proven, and your revenge will remain incomplete."

Mingyu's laughter was unsettling as he glanced toward Joonseo, who had managed to put some distance between himself and the scene. Despite Jungkook's intense focus, Joonseo's escape seemed inevitable.

"We'll catch Lee Joonseo," Mingyu said confidently. "His wife is with us. For now, though, you should head to the police station. Someone is waiting for you there."

Jungkook's eyes shifted back to Mingyu, the weight of the situation pressing heavily upon him. The thought of incomplete justice and the looming presence of the person waiting for him at the police station added another layer of complexity to his already tumultuous emotions. With a final, hard look at Joonseo's retreating figure, Jungkook turned his attention to the task ahead, knowing that the road to resolution was far from over.
