Barry walked out the door and down the street. He wore his backpack on his back and carried his CSI bag in his left hand. It was warm outside, and there was a slight breeze. As Barry walked he thought about the dream he had. In the dream there was an alien. At first everyone was afraid of the alien. So the alien disguised himself as a human and called himself Rex. He learned how to connect with humans. So he stopped disguising himself, and started being him. It took a bit, but eventually everyone liked him. But then the alien's family showed up to get him, and the humans shot their ship as soon as they were spotted. All the aliens on the ship died. Rex was devastated. He thought he had shown them that aliens weren’t harmful. But humanity won’t change. It can’t. So Rex built his own spaceship and left Earth. But with only human materials, Rex’s ship couldn’t make it to his home planet. He died in space. This was a very odd dream, and Barry had no idea why he had it. “Barry, there’s a robbery.” Cisco communicated somehow. Barry ran to the robbery after putting on his flash suit. When he got there he saw the robbers dancing. “Uhhhh, Cisco?” Barry was very confused. “I have no idea. Just go see what's going on.” Barry entered the bank. “Sooo, what’s going on here?” A man stood up. He was holding some kind of zapper ray thing. His name tag said Al3x on it. “Uhhh hi, Alex? What’s that?” The man stood stunned. “Oh uh, ya know. Just…catchin’ bad guys. And it’s Al-three-ex.” Al3x said awkwardly. “Wha- What did you do to them? And what is that?” Barry’s eyes shifted to the zapper ray thing Al3x was holding as he asked his question a second time. “I….I stopped em.” Al3x was purposefully avoiding the question. “Al3x. Answer the question. What is that?” “Fine! Ya got me. I have no idea. My brother made it. He gave it to me last week, he said I might need it soon. And he was right! I used it on the robbers today!” Al3x shifted emotions while he was talking. Mad, sad, happy, excited.

“And you didn’t ask him what it was?”

“Nope. I trust my brother with my life. Cuz, I mean, he saved my life last year by shootin’ me with one of his zapper ray things. I owe it to him to trust him.”

“How did he save your life? I mean were you sick when he shot you?”

“Yea. I uhh…I had liver and lung cancer, used to be a heavy drinker and smoker. Doctors said I didn’t have a chance without a new liver and lung. But since I couldn’t keep sober, the donor list kept sendin’ me down. My dad kept sayin’ all I had to do was lie, then it’d be alright. But I couldn’t, I’m an honest man. I don’t lie. I was gonna die, I was prepared to die. Then Ryan made that thing, said I could live if I let him shoot me with it. At first I was hesitant, but then I realized I was dyin’ anyways. It was a 50-50 chance.”

“Why couldn’t you just quit?”

“Ehh…You know how it is. I was addicted. Was goin’ through some tough things. Still am. I don’t drink anymore, but I still smoke.”

“Okay. Uh, Ca-can I speak to Ryan? I just um….I just want to ask him some questions about his zapper ray thing. If that’s okay.”

“Yea. But he prolly won't talk to you. He has trouble trustin’ people. I’ll take ya to his house.”

“Okay. I just gotta take these guys to the station.” Barry ran and came back. “Where’s your brother live?”

“Get in the car. I’ll take ya.” Barry got in the car with Al3x. When they arrived, Barry recognized the house. An old friend of his used to live here.

“This is it, Flash. I gotta get back to workin’ so...see ya again. Hopefully. Oh and, tell Ryan I said hi, yeah? And he’ll probably call me Mark. Just go with it.” Al3x got back in his car and drove away.

Barry walked up to the front door and knocked. He knocked again after no answer. He waited, then after eight minutes he peered through a window. He saw a man sitting on a couch. He was in deep focus. Barry presumed this was Ryan. He knocked on the door one last time. “Come on Ryan! I know you’re in there! I just want to talk to you about your brother, uh…Al3x!” The door flung open.

“I aint tellin’ you nothin’. And it aint Ryan no more. It’s Darr3n (Dare-three-en). Come on, it’s freezin’ out there.” Darr3n motion for Barry to come in. Barry walked in the house. “Darr3n. Nice name. Al3x says hi.”

“Don’t talk to me about Mark. He aint my brother no more.”

“Why not? He says you saved his life. He seems really thankful. And he says he saw you a week ago, you gave him a zapper ray thing.”

“He thinks that since I cured him once I can do it again. I can’t. I destroyed it. So I gave him the dance ray. Makes people dance. Figured if the cancer came back, he’d shoot himself with it. The dance ray aint just a ray that makes you dance, it takes away pain. You die two hours after getting shot. I aint want him to die in pain. Aint want him to suffer. Gave it to him as soon as I was done buildin’ it.”

“Hold on. You said if someone got shot with the ray they’d die within two hours?”

“Yea. He shoot someone?”

“Uh, yeah he did. Umm can you…make them not die?”

“Yea. Here. I made this cuz I figured Mark would do somin’ like this.” Darr3n picked up and handed a small disc to Barry. “Just put this on the floor by who got shot. And I aint got no extra so don’t mess it up.”

“Thanks. And I won't.”

“Hey, Flash. Look over Mark, yeah. He’s all I got.”

“Don’t worry. I will.” Barry ran back to the precinct and found the robbers. He placed the disk thing by their cell and a blue light emitted from it and the robbers stopped dancing. Everyone in the precinct looked over at Barry and the robbers.

“Okay, what was that?” Asked Joe, who went to work today.

“Just uh…a disc. Emitting light. Stopping these guys from dancing to death.” Barry looked over at Joe and left. He returned the disc to Darr3n and went home.
