Liv was a bit too relieved when she found out Ziggy was already asleep when she got home with bags upon bags of useless and useful shit she'd wasted money on.
She may have gone overboard on buying things for JJ and Delilah's baby, and she'd spent about two hundred dollars in Hot Topic and Claire's for Ziggy and Zara respectively, but she had also bought Emily a few outfits she knew she'd look cute in, and she'd bought a cute necklace set from a jewellery store for herself and Emily, just simple silver chains with an initial each engraved on the silver teardrop.
Nora and Colin were downstairs with Dave, and it was late, but not too late, because Delilah and JJ weren't home yet.
Liv hadn't even realised they were in the office today, if she was honest, but she'd woken up later than the time they apparently left and she just assumed they were hiding upstairs for the day.
"What did you buy?" Colin snorted at the many bags Liv carried in.
"What didn't she buy?" Nora laughed.
"It's mostly for the baby, and Ziggy, and Zara," Liv said, dumping the bags in the second living room to deal with tomorrow. "Where's Em?"
"She's upstairs with Sergio, I think," Dave said, looking up from his book. "You feeling better?"
"Yeah," Liv sighed. "Or I will when I can talk to her."
"Well, we're here if you need us," Nora smiled encouragingly. "Go get her, baby."
"Thanks, mom," Liv chuckled, heading upstairs.
She checked on Ziggy first, smiling when she saw Shadow and Stella poke their heads up from behind his body under the blankets.
"Hi," Liv whispered, waving at the dogs.
She walked into the room, leaning down to kiss Ziggy's freckled cheek gently. His lips twitched in his sleep, hand curled tightly around the octopus teddy that Jace had bought for him months ago. Zara had a matching one she also insisted on sleeping with every night, according to Penelope and Jace.
"I love you, beautiful boy," Liv whispered, kissing Ziggy's forehead again.
"Lov'oo, mamma," Ziggy mumbled, eyelashes fluttering before he slipped back off into dreamworld.
Liv stroked his face softly for a moment, chest both warm and aching at her sweet boy's words.
Mamma. He'd used the Italian word for mom, too, which felt so much sweeter than if he'd just called her mom. Liv was teaching him Italian so he could share Dave's heritage with the rest of them.
She didn't deserve him.
Liv got to her feet, slipping from the room and closing the door over behind her. She walked to her room, pushing the door open and leaning against the doorway.
Emily was sat on the bed against the headboard, Sergio curled up on her chest. She was reading a book in Greek, seemingly taking Delilah's silent challenge at learning another language to try and catch up to the language expert of the house.
