A/N:
Thank you so much for 50K reads<33 wow. It's really crazy that since the last update the reads have tripled and the story has gotten more attention in general

I should apologise for taking so long to update. It's just that I'm in my senior year in one of the countries with the most stressful school systems and I have to work very hard if I want to get in a university (there's actually only one uni for graphic design here which is what I want so I have to work extra hard) so updates won't be every week like before. Sorry about that...

"Alvin?"

"You forgot your phone in the car." He said showing me the device in his hand.

What?

"What are you doing out of class?" He frowned scanning over me. "Are you okay? You weren't heading to the nurse, were you?"

My mouth slightly opened but I couldn't get any words out. My brother froze when his eyes landed on the books in my head.

"What the hell? Did you even get in class? It's been ten minutes since I dropped you off, Tabitha. Why are you out of class?"

"I-" I felt my throat closing in on me and my legs started to shake. "I-"

I heard the bell ring. I saw his lips moving but I couldn't hear what he was saying. Instead, the bell's sound kept echoing in my ears. The sound getting worse and worse by every second that passed, getting as dragged out as possible.

My brother got his phone out of his pocket hurriedly, the screen already lit up. His eyes widened before he put his phone to his ear, pacing down the room talking as his hand went to his hair.

"I'll be right there." I heard him say before he turned to me. "We'll discuss this at home." He said before running out of the room, leaving the door wide open.

What just happened...

I turn towards the door. With every step I took my hearing starting becoming more clear. By the time I was out of the room, multiple students had filled the hallway hurrying around so they can grab their books from their lockers abd get to their next class.

I tried to shake off my anxiety and put on a brave face but in reality all I wanted to was curl up in a corner and cry. As I passed Mr Gosling's class I looked in for a moment only to see him walk towards the door with his eyes on me and a surprised look on his face.

I completely froze up. I felt kike I've been caught doing the worst crime and the evidence was all over my face.

"Tabitha...is everything alright? I didn't see you during class." He asked, his eyes wondering all around me trying to find any physical damage when he stopped with his gaze targeted at my right hand. "You have a note. May I see that?"

As if my body was working mechanically I handed the post-it over to him.

When he finished reading it he shook his head, "I'm deeply disappointed in you Miss Cooper. I'm afraid I'll have to give you a days detention."

We went to the office, the headmistress way too surprised to see me there for a second time today. As my teacher began to explain Mrs Beckham began to bury her face in her hands.

After five minutes it was decided. I had detention.

As I exited the room Mrs Beckham looked at me with an unreadable expression on her face. I couldn't tell if it was confusion, disappointment or apologetic.

The rest of the day passed just like one of the others. It was normal yet there was this guilt stuck in the back of my head.

I didn't really want to explain to Mani what happened. I couldn't just tell her that I was eavesdropping on the conversation between her mom and one of her friends. I'd end up sounding weird or creepy.
