"Come on, Tabs! You're going to be late!"

"Just a second!"

I finally managed to zip my skirt. Apparently mom had ordered it two sizes smaller by accident but I didn't have a choice but to wear it as it was part of my school's uniform. Thankfully, it wasn't that short.

It was my first day of school and least to say I was pretty nervous. I had gotten up at six am just to be sure that everything was going to be perfect and yet here I was, late for my meeting with the principal.

Speeding downstairs I quickly got my boots on and my school's jacket. My brother had already gotten my backpack in the car.

When I got in my brother's car he immediately started it and we were on our way.

"You got everything?" He asked, sparing me a glance.

"Yes." I replied, getting my bag on my lap.

"Lunch money?"

"Check."

"Notebooks?"

"Check."

"Pencil case?"

"Check."

"Your phone?"

"Check."

"Your lucky ribbon?" He looked for the accessory in my hair.

"Check.

"Your smile?"

I grinned. "Check."

"Okay, then you're ready for your first day of school without me."

"You don't have to worry, Vin. It'll be fine."

"Yeah, only this is a new school in a new town without me being with you. I told you, you should've let me fail so I could repeat the year and we could graduate together."

"And I told you no way."

He sighed. "Remember everything I told you about what to do?"

"Yes...find the principal's office, get my schedule, go to all of my classes on time and find friends. Although I'm telling you the last one ain't going to happen today."

"Just try, 'kay?"

"'kay."

I still hadn't told my brother about my meeting with his friends on the day of the fair. I did tell him about the fair because he kind of demanded to know but left that tiny detail out.

He parked in front of the school gates.

"Meet me here after school. And text me if something happens."

"I will." Getting out of the car I started walking towards the school building without looking back.

I love my brother but sometimes he's just a bit too overprotective and it's annoying.

I tried not to look at the other students as I went through the hallway with the gray lockers.

They're looking at me.

My eyes widened when they meet some icy blue ones.

She laughed.

This school's got a mean girl. Yay.

Two more girls appeared behind her and laughed the exact same way.

Oh and she's got minions. That's amazing.

I managed to ignore everyone's heavy stare and knock on the headmaster's office door.

"Come in."

As soon as she saw me she knew who I was.
