Leaving hogwarts at the end of the year was always emotional, many people wouldn't see their friends for months and some wouldn't even write letters.
Ava knew that Emma would respond to her, but she had a sinking feeling that Artemis would forget.
In fact on the train ride back to Kings Cross Station, Artemis had gone to Sit with Orpheus, Emma and Xenophilous had gone with her, but there wasn't much room in their carriage considering it was a smaller compartment.Ava felt slightly hurt, however she could always write to them.
James and lily were staying together over the summer, they really couldn't go that long without seeing eachother and it was starting to become a problem.
Remus would typically stay with the potters, however he really didn't want to be in the vicinity of James' poor attempt at flirting with her. Something had come up for Sirius, meaning he had to stay at the Black family home. And Remus really didn't enjoy the thought of spending the summer with Peter. So he made a move for the most viable option.
He was fortunately sat in the carriage with her, and was thinking up a polite way to ask Ava if he could stay with her over the summer months.
He didn't want to ask outright and especially not infront of Sirius."Ava please can I have a word with you?" Remus motioned for the door, Ava picked her gaze up from the floor and nodded at him.
He opened the door for her and followed her to the carriage next door which was thankfully empty."Is everything okay Remus?" Ava inquired, sitting down in the middle of the bench.
Remus nodded slowly, sitting opposite her with his head dropping down.
"I have quite a big favour to ask of you- you don't have to say yes or anything but I just needed to ask"
Ava was confused; what could he really ask of her this late into the year."I was wondering if- you'd be willing to maybe let me stay with your family this summer? I mean not to be invasive if that's a no that's perfectly fine"
Remus began cracking his knuckles nervously.Ava went wide eyed, he looked so ashamed as he asked- she was thankful he thought so dearly of her to actually want to stay with her for two months-
"Of course you can Remus! The door to the burrow is always open for anyone!" She stood up slowly and made her way over to the boy whose head had shot up with pure surprise.
She bent down and placed her chin on the crook of his neck and held him closely. The boy felt his heart drum against his ribs and felt his face turn red.
When she pulled away her hands lingered on his shoulders for a split second longer before and began to lead him back to the other carriage.
Sirius took one look at the flushed boy and began to laugh, covering his mouth with his hand as his body violently shook.
Peter looked confused, Half a liquorice wand sticking out of his mouth.~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
By the time the train had stopped, Ava and Remus already had their bags in their arms- although most of Ava's bags were in her room inside the suitcase- and said farewell to their friends, promising to write to them all."Ava! Look Daddy it's Ava!" Bill - now five years old- shouted excitedly, not wanting to even wait another second before seeing his aunt.
Ava looked at Remus with a smile, gesturing her head in the direction of the redheads- plural- and began to walk quickly. Remus decided to give them a moment to greet eachother, as this was the first time she'd seen them since September, before introducing himself.
Remus didn't really listen to their conversation aside from one aspect.
"Who?" He heard the voice of a man- muffled slightly- question.
"Oh" he heard her soft voice react, answering the man.
"That's Remus, my friend- he was wondering if he could stay this summer." Ava didn't so much ask as tell her family.
"Ava he's a boy- you can't have-"
"Arthur! He's a good friend of mine and needs somewhere to stay, you always say there's room for one more person at the burrow" the man sighed defeatedly.
