Chapter 3 The Mindflayer

Next day

Mike reached out to Lucas to apologize to him about the night before.
,,i get it man, it's nothing...... but what about Will? Everything okay with you two? Over."
Asked Lucas, the fight seemed pretty bad and even Mike got all emotional about it, that's pretty rare for him...
,,oh.... Yea, totally, everything's fine.... Over"
Mike's thoughts went back to their talk at castle Byers.
He felt conflicted again and slightly ashamed of the thoughts he had after everything was happened ...
,,well that's great, i call Will and we hang out at your place! Over and out."
"Wha- wait! Luc-...as...sigh*"
With that Lucas disappeared and left a speechless Mike behind.
So,.... Will was coming over again... but what should they even do?

,,hey Lucas here, do you copy? Over."
It didn't took Will long to respond.
,,im here, what is it? Over."
,,get up we meet at Mike's, gonna check out the arcade! Over"
Will jumped from the bed.
,,the arcade?! Sure! I be there in 10 minutes! Over and out."
He grabbed some coins from his desk and stuffed them into his pockets before running to the front door.
,,hey hey slow down sweetie, where are u going?"
Said Joyce with a smile.
,,to the arcade with the boys."
,,okay have fun!"
She almost shouted after her son as he jumped on his bike.

Not long after, he arrived at Mike's house.
He and Lucas already waited in front of the garage with their bikes.
,,hey man!"
Greeted Lucas and gave Will a high five.
,,hi guys!"
He also reached his hand out to Mike, waiting for a high five from his best friend.
So he really pretend like nothing happened?
Fine, thought Mike and gave Will the high five before they drove off to the arcade.

(Ima make a lil time skip here bc i don't wanna write about the way there)

After they stayed at the arcade for 2 hours they decided to get a snack at 7eleven.
Mike and Lucas went inside while Will stayed by the bikes..
After a minute Will felt his neck hair standing up.... His heart started beating faster and he felt cold all over.
He couldn't move, as if he was paralyzed.
Everything around him got dark and he felt... him....
In the next second a hand landed of Wills shoulder and a soft voice took him out of his trance, back to the real world.
It was Mike
,,Will, are you okay? Was... was that-"
,,he's back..."
,,who's back?"
Asked Lucas confused.
,,.....the Mindflayer."
The 3 guys looked at each other and knew they were in trouble.

20 minutes later they where sitting in Mike's basement, Lucas trying to reach Dustin and Mike trying to call the girls.
,,What do you want, leave us be you douche-"
Max didn't got to finish her sentence when Mike started talking.
,,this is a code red! It's really important, tell El and come to my place as fast as possible okay? As fast as possible!"
And Mike hung up.
,,Lucas try Dustin again."
,,but he's not answering."
,,then try Dustin AGAIN!"
,,Dustin, do you copy? This is a code red, i repeat, code red!"
Still no answer from Dustin..

Not long after the girls finally arrived.
,,what's the matter idiot."
Came it annoyed from Max who had Eleven with her.
,,I didn't think it was anything at first, or I think i just didn't want to believe it... the first time I felt it was at 'day of the dead' (the movie they watched)"
,,the power went out that night too!"
Said Mike, focusing on his friend.
,,and then I felt it again on the hill, the next day. Then again in front of 7eleven."
Ended Will his speech.
Max cut in from the side..
,,how does it feel like?"
,,... you know when u drop on a roller coaster?"
Everyone said yes just Eleven didn't.
,,it's like everything in you is sinking but it's worse. Your body goes cold- a-and you can't breath...like your paralyzed. I felt it whenever HE was close."
,,when who is close?"
Asked Max confused.
,,the Mindflayer...."
The girls looked shocked at each other.
,,but I closed the gate."
Said El confused.
,,i know but what if he never left?-.... What if we locked him out into our world?"
,,but the demodogs died after we did, if the brain dies the body dies."
Added Max.
,,we can't take any chances! We need to prepare for the worse: the Mindflayer is back."
Said Mike confident and looked back to Will.
,,that would mean he needs a new body, a new host, right?"
Asked Lucas.
,,yea but it could be anyone if that's the case!"
Said Mike slightly frustrated.
El asked taken aback.
,,how can you see if someone is a host?"
Max thought for a moment, then opened her mouth.
,,yesterday El saw Billy, my brother, doing something weird. We checked him out but I'm not sure.."
,,yea there was a bathtub with ice in the water..."
,,he likes it cold..."
Said Will quiet
Mike looked at Will again.
Everytime Will started talking his eyes would fall on him like magnets.
The others kept talking but Mike didn't hear much, he was looking at Will from the side with an unreadable face.
Max got Eleven a clothing to cover her eyes while Lucas changed the TV screen.
They all sat on the sofa around Eleven when she went into the void to look once again for clues.
Will looked to his feet and was sitting on the sofa edge.
Mike was standing behind the sofa leaning his arms against it as he leaned over to whisper into his friends ear.
,,are you okay?"
,,huh?...yea don't worry."
,,You sure?"
,,yeah."
Will nodded and gave Mike a small smile to express that he was really fine.
Mike slowly and quietly moved closer in the brunettes direction, for some reason he wanted to touch Wills hand.
Just as he thought that, Will moved a bit and their arms accidentally touched.
They looked each other in the eyes for a few seconds before Will hurriedly looked away, down to his feet again.
He played with the end of his shorts and bites his lip. 
For a moment he felt like he lost himself in those dark eyes for a second and he was ashamed of it.
He tried to tell himself that he was just imagining things...
Mike on the other hand continued to give Will a few sneaky glances, then he moved his hand slowly and carefully over to Will, with the intention to touch his hand again, but he got interrupted.
Suddenly Eleven took of the clothing and said:
,,i saw nothing much."
That scared mike and he pulled his hand back right away.
,,the happy screams?"
Asked Max.
,,no..."
Answered El
,,what the hell are happy screams ??"
Asked Lucas confused and irritated.
Max shock her head to tell him not to ask right now.
,,i cant say for sure..."
Then Max meant they should go to the pool and take a closer look at Billy.
Now it was to late and the party decided to sleep over at Mike's.
While Will opened his sleeping back next to Mike's, the black haired boy couldn't take his eyes of him. When Will blinked you could see the curve of his eyelashes better, his eyes wandering down the smaller ones nose, to his lips... WHAT?
Mike get it together! What are you doing?! Mike's inner voice said frustrated to himself. He started messily to throw his sleeping bag on the floor, desperate to think of something else.
He couldn't believe himself, what, just what was wrong with him?

Everyone seemed to already sleep and Mike looked concerned to Will who was laying next to him.
He hesitated for a moment before whispering.
,,hey, Will.... Are you still awake?"
,,yea, what is it?"
Will turned over to look at Mike.
,,do you think it's Billy?"
,,i don't know... i mean we will find out tomorrow i guess?"
,,... but still this hole thing gets me worried."
,,Mike, it's going to be okay, you guys always fixed it and you will fix it this time too."
Mike nodded but still looked concerned.
After a long moment of just looking into each other's eyes, Mike reached out his hand.
Will immediately understood the gesture and puts his hand softly on his friends, to calm him down.
,,... im just... i don't know, scared? That something happens to you again.. i don't want you to get hurt again..."
He was scared of loosing him.
,,sigh* Mike, i promise you I will be careful and to stay save, it's going to be fine, really."
He smiled softly at Mike who smiled and nodded to show he accepted this answer.
Then Will pulled his hand away from Mikes hand and turned around before he fell asleep just a minute later.
The black haired kept looking at the back of his smaller friends head for a while before he also slowly fell asleep.
