Dino - Blind Date

"Please Y/N, just this once." Mina practically begged me.

"You know I don't really want to date right now, plus I don't even know what the guy looks like." I pleaded with her.

"I know, but I can promise he is very good looking. I just want you to be happy again." She looked at me with puppy dog eyes.

"Okay fine I'll go, just please stop looking at me that way." I reluctantly agreed, covering her eyes with my hand so I wouldn't have to see her puppy eyes anymore.

"Yay!! Okay i'll text him and let him know you'll be there. His name is Lee Chan by the way." She said while bringing out her phone.

"Text me the details of where I'm supposed to meet him. I'll see you tomorrow." I gave her a small wave before turning to begin my journey home.

I let out a breath of relief when I was away from her. It's not that I don't appreciate what she's doing and understand she wants the best for me, it's just that my last relationship didn't end so well. And I'm not sure if I'm ready for another one.

When I got home I took a quick shower and checked my phone to see if Mina had texted me yet.

<You guys are going to meet at the ramen restaurant downtown! He said he'll be there at 7. Good luck and let me know how it goes!>

I checked the time and was glad that I had atleast an hour to get ready and get there, the last thing I needed was to be late.

At 6:45 I began my walk to the restaurant. Luckily it was a short walk from my apartment so I arrived a few minutes before 7. I stood outside and checked my phone periodically, killing time until Lee Chan arrived.

Wait, how am I supposed to even know he's here when I don't know what he looks like???

At 7:10 I considered texting Mina to see if this guy was even going to come. Then at 7:15 I saw a guy running down the sidewalk coming in my direction. I stood out of the way to avoid being trampled by him because he seemed to be in a rush, but to my surprise he stopped pretty much right in front of me. 

"Are y-you Y/N?" He said panting and trying to catch his breath.

"Yes?" I said, unsure of this guy.

"I-I'm Lee Chan." He said sticking out his hand to shake and trying to cover up his out of breath state. "I'm so sorry I'm late, I got caught up at work and rushed over here as quickly as I could." He said in an apologetic voice.

I gave him a sympathetic smile, "It's okay I understand."

He smiled back, "Shall we go in?" I nodded and we walked in together.

We sat down across from each other and looked at the menu while we waited for the waiter. Surprisingly, we ordered the same exact thing.

"I guess we have the same taste huh?" Chan joked, making me chuckle a bit in agreement.

We chatted for a while, getting to know each other by asking the simple questions everyone asks when they meet someone new. Soon, our food arrived and we ate in a comfortable silence for a few minutes.

"You know, I was really nervous for this." Chan admitted, breaking the silence.

"If I'm being honest, I was too. Can I ask what made you nervous?" I asked, setting my utensils down to give him my attention.

"Well I've never been on a blind date before, and Mina was really hyping you up so I was afraid I wouldn't meet your standards or that I would mess this up." He sheepishly said.

"Oh my gosh, I get it. I felt the same way, but I think I was more worried I was being set up with a complete weirdo or something." I said, chuckling a bit.

"Hopefully by the end of this date you wouldn't have labeled me as a weirdo." Chan said, giving me a teasing smile. "You are very good looking by the way, I can see why Mina wouldn't stop complimenting you, plus I really like your personality, you're fun to be around."

"You aren't too bad yourself." I replied, matching his teasing smile causing him to laugh.

We fell into another moment of comfortable silence, taking the opportunity to finish our food. Once we finished, me and Chan had a playful argument about how and who was going to pay. In the end, I gave in and let him pay the whole bill.

We stopped and faced each other once we were back outside, waiting for the other to speak.

"Would you want to walk with me? I kind of don't want this date to end." Chan asked, his cheeks flushing red with shyness.

"I'd love to." I respionded and took the initiative to grab his hand in mine. He looked down at our now intertwined fingers and smiled.

We walked around the area which was bustling with others. Chan walked closest to the road, allowing me to walk on the inner side of the sidewalk.

How thoughtful.

We continued talking and telling each other random stories or facts about ourselves. But unfortunately our night was coming to an end. Chan offered to walk me home, so that's what we are currently doing, walking home.

I came to a stop in front of my apartment building. 

"Well, this is it." I turned towards him, still holding his hand.

"I had a really great time tonight Y/N. I think this was the best blind date ever." 

"I thought you hadn't been on one before?"

"I haven't, but after tonight I'm hoping I don't have to go on any more of them." He said with a hopeful look in his eye.

"Hm... I don't think I will either." I said, smiling at him.

Once he heard this, he flashed the biggest and brightest smile I think I had seen him do all night.

"I'll give you my phone number then."

I handed him my phone and watched as he typed in his number then called himself.

"I'll text you when I get home." He smiled at me once again.

"Goodnight Chan." I said before leaning in and giving him a small kiss on the cheek. I watched as his face turned red from this action.

"Goodnight Y/N." He said before quickly turning around to leave, probably trying to hide his red face.

I walked inside my apartment and pulled out my phone to text Mina.

Y/N → Mina

<Okay fine... yes I like him and it went very well.>

Dino → Mina

<I REALLY LIKE Y/N.>

Well that's it! Maybe one day in the future I'll write more short stories, but for now I will go back to concentrating of my bigger works.
