"Where am I..? How did I end up here... It's so cold and foggy, I can't see anything around me," murmured the boy as he cautiously moved forward.
A giant dragon emerged from the darkness, its scales shimmering faintly in the dim light. "Don't tell me I'm stuck with this dragon here," he whispered, fear creeping into his voice.
"No need to be afraid, boy. I'm not here to attack you," the dragon rumbled, its deep voice echoing through the fog. "I'm here to alert you."
"To alert me? What’s going on…? Why am I here?" the boy screamed, panic rising.
"I will explain everything later, but be careful. I sense danger—that’s all I can say for now," the dragon warned, its massive form fading into the shadows.
"Wait! Who are you? How can you talk to me? What should I do now?" the boy shouted, his voice echoing in the emptiness as he ran after the dragon. Suddenly, a blinding light engulfed him, and when he opened his eyes, he realized it was all a dream.
"Damn, that was a strange dream. I thought I was going to die there," the boy whispered, his breath heavy with relief.
The door burst open, and a girl shouted, "Onii-chan! Don’t tell me you woke up late again. Did you forget you have school today? Wake up, or you’ll be late!" She yanked him out of bed.
"Ouch! It hurts! And stop telling me what to do!" he screamed as he hit the floor.
"Are you going to shout at your sweet sister like that?" she teased, playfully annoying her brother.
"Shoji, are you coming down?" their mother called from downstairs.
"Yes, mother!" Shoji replied, quickly getting dressed and rushing down for breakfast.
—Later, at school—
"Ahh! Going to school is so boring. I wish I had a more interesting life," Shoji muttered under his breath as he walked to class.
"Oye, Shoji! We need to get to class before the math teacher arrives!" his friend Akimitsu called out.
"What?! The first period is math? This day just keeps getting worse," Shoji sighed, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Kayoko-senpai, why are you here?" everyone in the class exclaimed as they noticed the teacher.
"Due to some reasons, Manami-senpai took leave today, so there won’t be a math class. I’m in charge," Kayoko-senpai announced.
As the class continued, Shoji’s mind drifted back to his dream. "It’s really unusual for me to have dreams like that. What did that dragon mean by danger? I’m so confused… This isn’t the first time I’ve encountered that dragon in my dreams. It gives me the creeps, but I guess it’s nothing. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to be cautious," he whispered to himself while staring out the window.
Time flew by, and soon, the school day was over. As the final bell rang, everyone began packing their bags. Shoji’s friends gathered around him.
"Shoji, don’t forget about the party. We haven’t had a late-night party in ages," Akimitsu reminded him.
"Yeah, I’ll be there. Don’t worry about me. See you all later," Shoji said, rushing home, excited for the night’s festivities.
—That Night—
"Shoji-chan, glad you made it!"
"Sorry, Nori-chan, I’m late again," Shoji apologized as he arrived at the party.
Everyone was enjoying themselves—dancing, singing, and drinking—when Akimitsu suggested a game.
"Let’s play a game! Everyone drinks, and whoever quits first has to do a dare chosen by the others. You have to pair up with a friend, but it has to be someone of the opposite gender. There are three levels: the first is drinking beer with crossed arms, the second is drinking while hugging each other with a two-in-one straw, and the third… well, let’s keep that a secret for now," Akimitsu explained with a grin.
Everyone agreed to the game, but Shoji was left without a partner. "Why do I always end up like this?" he muttered, feeling a bit dejected.
"No worries, Shoji, I’ll be your partner," Aki-san offered.
"Aki-san, thank you, but I’m afraid I can’t do the dare. I’d rather be the judge for this game," Shoji said, trying to avoid the challenge.
After some time, everyone began heading home. "Today was really amazing," Shoji whispered as he walked back, feeling content.
Suddenly, a thick fog enveloped him, and he heard footsteps approaching. "Who’s there?" Shoji shouted, turning around just in time to see a figure stab him in the stomach. Two people, dressed in black and wielding swords, stood over him.
"Too unlucky, boy. Perhaps it was your fate. We have to kill you because of the power within you. You have no one to blame but the gods themselves," they said, as they stabbed him again, leaving Shoji collapsed and barely conscious.
As his vision faded, a girl with crimson eyes and grape-purple hair appeared before him. "Please, save me," Shoji pleaded, blood pouring from his wounds, his body broken.
"I will save you, but in return, will you help me? the girl asked, her voice gentle yet firm.
"Yes… I owe you my life. Please… help me," Shoji gasped before losing consciousness.
