At four-thirty, the alarm jolted Nandini awake. As she groggily opened her eyes, a smile spread across her face at the sight before her. The small cat she had rescued from the market and decided to adopt was now nestled comfortably on her bosom, purring softly. The tiny creature's warmth and contentment mirrored Nandini's own, making the early hour feel just a bit more bearable.
Letting her snuggle for almost five more minutes, Nandini savored the peaceful moment. Finally, she gently lifted the kitten and laid her back on the bed, carefully covering her with a soft blanket.
After covering the kitten with a blanket, Nandini headed off to freshen up and take a bath. She got ready in a beautiful frock suit, feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. By the time she finished, it was 5:15. She moved directly to the kitchen and began preparing breakfast and morning tea for herself and the others. By 5:50, she had finished making breakfast and went to check on Riddhi and Siddhi. She woke them up, urging them to take a shower and come down for breakfast. By this time, Nitya had also come downstairs. Nandini returned to her room, took the kitten down, and gave her milk and food.
While waiting for Riddhi and Siddhi, they sat in the hall for a while. At 6:30, all the girls gathered for breakfast, chatting happily. During their conversation, they realized the kitten didn't have a name yet. Nandini decided to name him Snowball, a fitting name for the adorable little furball.
( Snow ball is male cat baby)
It's seven now, and with their college starting at nine, they had plenty of time. All of them settled in the living room, enjoying the leisurely morning.
Nandini turned to Nitya and asked, "What about the rent for the house? We haven't talked to Naina aunty yet. We have one hour left; can we go and talk to her now?"
Nitya replied, "Sure, let's go and talk to aunty about it." After instructing Riddhi and Siddhi to take care of Snowball in their absence, they both headed towards the palace to speak with Naina aunty.
In the main palace, all the family members were gathered in the living hall. Nandini and Nitya greeted everyone politely as they entered. Naina aunty welcomed them with a warm smile and said, "All ready to start the work today?"
"Ji, aunty ji," both Nandini and Nitya replied in unison, feeling a mix of excitement and responsibility.
Nandini said, "Aunty, we need to talk to you about something. Are you free for a moment?"
Naina aunty nodded and led Nandini and Nitya to a quieter corner. "What is it you want to discuss?" she asked kindly.
"Aunty, we wanted to talk about the rent for the house," Nandini began hesitantly. "We haven't finalized anything yet, and we wanted to make sure we're all on the same page."
Naina smiled gently and shook her head. "I appreciate your responsibility, but I've already made my decision. When I agreed to let you stay here, I didn't intend to take any rent from you."
Nandini and Nitya looked at each other in surprise. "But aunty-" Nitya started, but Naina raised a hand to stop her.
"You are all like daughters to me, and you are Suhani's daughters. How could I possibly take rent from you? If tomorrow one of you is in need, wouldn't you help each other out? That's what family and friends do. So, consider this your home without any rent concerns."
Nandini felt a rush of gratitude. "Thank you, aunty. This means so much to us."
"But aunty," Nandini added, "our car and scooter, along with our extra luggage, which we couldn't carry due to the weight limit on the airplane, will be transferred here. We'll use our own vehicles. Is that acceptable to you?"
