It was very late at night when Abhimaan climbed up to Nandini's balcony, the moonlight casting a soft glow over the serene scene. As he quietly stepped inside, he saw her lying on her back, a novel resting on her chest, and Snowy curled up contentedly on her lap. Nandini's eyelids fluttered, her head bobbing as she fought to stay awake. The sight of her trying so hard to wait for him caused a rare, unfamiliar sensation in his chest. His normally dark and guarded heart skipped a beat, touched by the tender image before him.
"Kya baat hai, aap abhi tak jaag rahi ho?" Abhimaan asked teasingly, his voice a low murmur that blended with the night. "Kissi ka intezar ho raha tha kya?" He couldn't help but smile as he moved closer, his gaze softening at the sight of her trying to shake off sleep.
"Nahi, aisa kuch nahi hai. Aapko galatfahmi hui hai," Nandini replied, her voice soft and a bit drowsy. She paused for a moment, thinking harder, before continuing, "Mujhe toh kissi ka intezar nahi tha. Mai toh apni novel padh rahi thi." She tried to sound convincing, but the slight hesitation and the way her eyes lit up at his presence betrayed her true feelings.
"Hmm, novel padh rahi thi?" Abhimaan raised an eyebrow, his tone playful. "Mujhe nahi pata tha meri jaan itni intelligent hai ki ulti kitab bhi padh leti hai." He chuckled, a warm, grateful smile spreading across his face. "Kher, acchi baat hai yeh toh." His teasing words were laced with affection, appreciating the effort she made to wait for him.
Nandini glanced at her novel and her eyes widened in realization. A cute pout formed on her lips as she turned her face to the other side, trying to hide her embarrassment. The sight only made Abhimaan's smile grow wider, his heart swelling with affection for her endearing reaction.
Abhimaan settled beside her, one side next to Nandini and the other to Snowy. Today, he snuggled closer, burying his face in the crook of her neck and inhaling the scent of her open hair. The familiar fragrance wrapped around him, bringing a sense of peace and contentment he rarely experienced, making the moment feel even more intimate and cherished. This made Nandini feel giddy, her heart fluttering at the warmth of his embrace and the gentle way he nestled against her. She couldn't help but smile, the earlier embarrassment fading away, replaced by a sense of comfort and closeness that enveloped them both.
Feeling his desire for her surge, Abhimaan tenderly kissed her forehead, allowing the warmth of the moment to envelop him. He didn't even bother to change his clothes, choosing instead to freshen up in her room, their initial conversation still lingering in his mind. Snuggling closer to her, he wrapped his arms around her protectively. With Snowy purring softly beside them, the trio drifted into a peaceful slumber, content in each other's presence. Like this, another day came to an end.
But today, something else also happened. Shrikant, his father, who had been waiting for Abhimaan to come home in the garden, saw him directly climbing to Nandini's balcony. This unexpected sight left Shrikant deep in thought, pondering the changes he was witnessing in his son.
Nandini woke up with the sound of her alarm and saw both her men sleeping soundly beside her. With a soft smile, she gently slipped out of bed, careful not to wake them. She quickly took a bath and got ready for the day. Heading to the kitchen, she made two cups of tea before returning to the room. As she entered, she saw Abhimaan stirring, looking around as if searching for her. Snowy, on the other hand, sat up with a bored expression, as if saying, "I know Mom is here somewhere. Huh."
"Oh, you got up! Tho jaldi se brush karlo and come, we will have tea together," Nandini said, her voice filled with warmth. Abhimaan felt a rare sense of warmth and home in her words. He nodded, a small smile playing on his lips, and did as she said. Within moments, he returned, feeling more refreshed, ready to share the peaceful morning with Nandini and Snowy.
