The Will to Survive

THE SIREN BLARIED out a terrible cry. People everywhere scrambled to get inside and find shelter. Connie quickly undid her seatbelt, grunting forcing the truck door open. She ran around to the front, standing on the opposite side of Tyler and Kate, looking at the sky.

"Oh my god." Connie breathed out, she turned around to see a yellow tent crushing toward them. "Get down!" She shouted, ducking as it flew above them.

She ushered them, running against the wind to the downtown. A farmers market of sorts, blown away by the incoming storm. Her heart racing, her mouth parted she stood looking all around as people rushed out.

Her hair blew against her face, goosebumps raving down her arms. Connie looked to her friend, both not sure how they could help these people. Dexter ran over to the trio.

"Shelters are all full, we have to get everyone to the movie theater!" He ordered them. She grunted taking off down the street. Getting to the vendors who tried to brave through the store to save their merchandise.

"Leave it! you have to go!" Connie tells them. She panted running to a woman with beadwork. "It's not worth your life, come on!" She yelled.

"Ayúdame!" *𝗁𝖾𝗅𝗉 𝗆𝖾*  A voice shouted. Connie whipped her head, a man and an elderly woman, were both in a truck on the side of the street.  She grunted running over to them.

"What's going on?!" She shouted. The man looked at the woman in the seat next to him. "Her belt is stuck, the door it crushed her leg." He explained, she nodded.

"Estoy sangrando mucho!" *𝖨'𝗆 𝖻𝗅𝖾𝖾𝖽𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝖺 𝗅𝗈𝗍* The woman exclaimed in pain, her eyes darted to her sun skirt, dark crimson leaking through the martial.

Connie reached around into her pocket, unsheathing her pocket knife. The man fought the wind holding the truck door with all his strength.

The woman moaned in relief as the belt came undone. She quickly took her denim shirt off, lifting the woman's skirt. Wrapping it tightly to the cut.  Connie looked at the man next to her.

"Sigue presionando con esto!" *𝖪𝖾𝖾𝗉 𝗉𝗋𝖾𝗌𝗌𝗎𝗋𝖾 𝗈𝗇 𝗍𝗁𝗂𝗌* The young woman ordered.  Turning to the woman's nephew.  He picked up the elderly woman's bridal style, looking at her.

"Get to the theater! Get underground now!" She shouted. Connie panted running back out into the road.  Her eyes darted to the trolly breaking off the tracks, barreling towards a man, her heart fell to her stomach.

"TYLER!" She shrieked. He screamed in pain as the wooden bar and metal of the cart pinned his ankle to the ground. Connie panted, her knees hitting the ground as she got to his side.
