The day of the funeral had arrived, it took a bit of research for Sicheng to find what was respectful to wear at a yakuza funeral, and unlike with the inauguration, they didn't just give him the clothes automatically. Yuta wasn't there to guide him like before, he didn't even know he was there.
There wasn't a chance that Sicheng wouldn't be at this funeral, he wasn't breaking another promise to Yuta, even if he was mad at him at that moment.
He remembered Yuta in his bed, telling him things he'd told nobody else before. About his childhood, not just the one with his parents, but with the yakuza that raised him. Takamasa was the closest he'd ever have to an older brother, he'd be damned if he couldn't support Yuta through such a time of grief.
Still though, the hurt was fresh in his mind. Even if they were true, Yuta's words left Sicheng in a state of disrepair. He'd never experienced the sensation of heartbreak before – not in the romantic sense at least. And as he stood there, for the burial of Takamasa Ishihara, his mind reflected on that.
The ceremony was a traditional burial, a mixture of both Buddhist and Shinto tradition, as with most things of cultural significance in Japan. Sicheng had to wear what was called a mofuku – a black kimono specifically designed for putting the dead to rest.
It hadn't been long until Yuta noticed him among the crowd, souring his expression further. They'd started leaving gifts for the deceased one by one, everything Takamasa loved – cigarettes, hard candy, booze. And Sicheng could feel Yuta behind him, with a perpetual frustration. After they'd both left their offerings, Yuta pulled Sicheng aside.
Even if he was angry, Sicheng still melted in his touch. Obedient easily, he especially liked being man-handled. Although, he knew he shouldn't relic in this too much. "You have a lot of nerve showing your face on." He was livid, and Sicheng wanted to sink out of his body. "I made a promise to you." Yuta scoffed, "As if you ever fucking cared about promises." The distain in his voice was vitriolic, and Sicheng couldn't help but cry, far too sensitive to withstand such harshness.
It hurt Yuta, to see him like that. Even if he was upset with Sicheng, his love never faded, and seeing Sicheng with tears falling down his beautiful face, how red his face got, his utterly devastation. Yuta had to walk away, before he caved and did something he might regret.
And Sicheng ran off, he went into the nearby temple as a place of sanctuary, away from everyone else. Away from Yuta, whom he couldn't help but feel guilty being the one crying after everything he knew the older was going through at that moment.
Even then, the conviction hitting him only made him cry more. So, as he sat inside of the beautifully constructed temple, all he did was bawl, until his eyes burned, until the tears streaming down his face felt more like acid. It wasn't just because of his sadness, but because of the lack of control, and sobbing was the only thing he had control over.
But, as he weeped his eyes out, he suddenly became distracted by a warm hand on his shoulder. Someone was sitting beside him, and although he'd wished it was Yuta, luck would not side with him in that way.
No, instead of his lover forgiving him, understanding why he did what he did, the only person who saw this vulnerability was the last person he wanted to see him like this. It was Shotaro.
Sicheng looked horrified, while Shotaro only stared at him with a smirk. "What's wrong, little boy? Your boyfriend find out you're a liar?" Sicheng didn't give this any attention, instead keeping his silence. Only agitating Shotaro more.
"C'mon pretty boy, I know I could do it better than him. Just let me do it how you like it." Even if he had been with someone before, this statement still wouldn't have been true. He knew Shotaro was a selfish lover, he wouldn't dare take the time to make the experience enjoyable his partner.
"I've never even been fucked and I know that's a lie." He bitterly stated, dark circles under his eyes from wailing. "Even better." He grabbed Sicheng roughly by the wrists and overpowered him, until they were lying on the floor, with Shotaro on top.
Meanwhile, Yuta had taken a seat, just trying to forget about everything, including Sicheng. But it was a bit difficult with Sicheng's phone sitting openly on the chair next to him, he tried his best to ignore it, but it was as if it were haunting him. So he swiped it quickly, and while nobody was looking he typed in the code – 1028. Who would make their phone code their own birthday? Sicheng apparently.
And when he did, he saw the daunting notification from Shotaro, he checked those immediately. At first, for the petty reason of wanting to know who he was being cheated on with, but the more he scrolled back, the more he realized that Sicheng was never cheating.
He was being blackmailed.
In that moment, he knew Sicheng was in danger, knew that little pest would bother him, his instincts never failed him. He stood up and quickly looked around the crowd, seeing if he spotted the little bastard, but he was nowhere in sight.
That's when he realized that he had to be in the temple, since he'd seen Sicheng wander over there. His inner protective instincts came out roaring, as he rushed to the temple. And when he slid open the door, he saw a smug Shotaro unbuckling his pants, with a petrified Sicheng underneath him.
Sicheng was in such a place of fear, he hadn't realized that Yuta was even there. He was just hoping something stopped Shotaro in his tracks, that's when he heard a deafeningly loud bang.
That's all Yuta needed to see, disgusted with the actions of the kyoudai who never quite got anything right. He pulled his gun out from under his mofuku and without hesitation, shot Shotaro in the head in cold blood.
Sicheng never saw this side of Yuta before, his eyes were empty, no sense of remorse present. Only the presence of a trained assassin, rage far more terrifying than his anger. A man lied dead on the floor, and he didn't care.
And, while others may have been afraid of such a stone cold killer, it made Sicheng feel... Safe. He lived on his own in a foreign country, and yet there was someone out there who cared for him enough to murder anyone who hurt him on sight.
Yuta moved Shotaro's body away from the younger, and brought him in for a tight squeeze. "I'm so sorry, Sicheng. I had no idea." He muttered in his ear, his embrace was as if he was signaling regret. "It's alright, I'm sorry too..." Although he didn't need to apologize, Yuta already forgave him.
He never wanted to be mad at him in the first place, it's just that he didn't want to get hurt. But knowing now, that he put himself in harm's way just to protect Yuta's secret, there was no reason for him to ever doubt the shin-kakyo.
He kissed Sicheng again, like a prince in a fairytale, and it felt magical. All of Sicheng's problems were once again alleviated, and Yuta took solace in knowing that settling down and having someone to come home to everyday is all that Takamasa ever wanted for him.
He stroked Sicheng's soft hair, that'd gotten even longer than it was when they began talking. "Let's go home, Winko." And Sicheng followed him, because he would've followed him anywhere.
