My eyes skim over the words on the pages, attempting at successfully skipping the spare descriptions of the place depicted in the book, and getting to the interesting part of the chapter. I've got a gut feeling that the male main character is about to ask the protagonist to be her boyfriend, and unnecessary descriptions are blocking my way to get to that scene sooner.

A cheesy grin makes its way on my face unconsciously as I keep reading, fully engrossed on the book carefully held in my hands. That is, at least, until a heavy force launches itself at the vacant spot on my left, followed right after by another one on my right.

"I won, you slow turtle," Kipp mocks his husky while sticking his tongue out at the same time. Said dog whines, throwing a small tantrum before he barks at my brother and settles on my left, looking for a comfortable position to rest.

I stare at them bemused while my blonde brother rolls his eyes and mutters under his breath , "So dramatic."

My eyes scan my brother's outfit choice. Baby blue sweatpants and a black hoodie that covers the back go his dirty blonde hair. Meanwhile I am wearing the opposite: black sweatpants and a light blue pullover engulf me in furry hugs that keep me warm all day long.

Kipp's olive green eyes turns to my own, and it is only then that he notices the peculiar outfit choices we've made. He nods. "Interesting."

We fall into a comfortable silence, the only sound heard being the husky's tongue-out heavy breathing. At least until my youngest brother's eyes finally find the book perched open on my lap. Kipp shift his position so that he's laying his head on my shoulder.

"Oh, what are we reading?" he asks, his eyes flicking through the words of the page I'm currently reading to grasp the context of the situation.

I opt to stay silent while my brother becomes acquainted with the characters and the scene happening before our eyes, choosing instead to let my eyes wander back to the pages and continue where I left it. Just as I'm about to flip onto the next page, my brother whispers alarmed, "Wait, I haven't finished yet."

Chuckling inwardly, I wait for about ten seconds before he signals me to continue by taking the book a flicking onto the next page himself. When I've already read half the page, Kipp mumbles, "Wait, that is so fuck- sorry, freaking cute. He's giving her roses." A few more sentences and he adds, "I should do this when I get a girlfriend."

Staggered, I shift my position to be able to look directly into my brother's eyes and inquiry out of curiosity, "You don't have a girlfriend?"
