Forgotten (mha, Dabi)

Failure?

"Sorry..." 

I was about to get up and go to my own room when his hand quickly reached out to me, holding my shirt. Curiously, I sat back a bit closer. Does he want to tell me what he dreamed about, or am I just supposed to sit here with him?  Toya wiped away a tear from his face. 

"I dreamed... about him." 

Confused, I tilted my head to the side, questioning what exactly he meant. Who's him? 

"Who?" I asked. 

"My father." 

His voice broke a little, as he hitched while breathing. I waited for him to find some time to respond, before I asked him the next question. 

"Did he do something?"

Toya's tears kept on coming, silently dropping down on the couch and getting soaked into it. 

"I'm such a failure." 

He was slightly trembling, his voice faint. I had no idea what to say to this. I knew exactly how he felt. 

Failure.

Are we the same? This felt like a punch to the stomach, knowing what he was going through. 

"You're... I don't think you're a failure." I whispered to him. 

The boy started sobbing. I wish I could hug him. But I physically couldn't move to reach him. He put his head down on my knee, too tired to hold himself up straight. 

"My fire isn't good enough... I'm not good enough... And all they ever say is to give up." He muttered. 

"And then HE was born." 

He clenched his fists, his fingers digging into the skin of the couch. 

"His masterpiece was born, and I meant nothing..." 

Angrily, he swallowed his own saliva, coughing a little as he choked a bit on it. For some time, he stayed like that, before his crying slowly came to an end. His head was still resting on my knee. I trembled a bit, as I placed a hand in his hair and gently pet his head. 

He mumbled one last thing, before he finally fell asleep: 

"I'm a failure..." 

My chest clenched together painfully, as I watched him sleep, and then I closed my eyes, whispering quietly to myself: 

"Me too."

Yes sorey to everyone who read thsi chapter without my amazing comment undernetah it, I forgot to put it and now I am angry. Imma also put like fancy patterns because I have seen quite a lot of ppl putting fancy flower and star and line patterns after each paragraph and I think thats fancy so... I might update every chapter again, but maybe at the end and not now lololol
