Lucifer Angelfangs

A few months passed. It was getting colder. The summer left us already and we are getting closer to the end of autumn. It was starting to get difficult to stay warm and dry in our home. It was very damn cold.

We had nothing to heat our house up. Occasionally we managed to get wood and stuff to burn and we would place it in the chimney, where Dabi would lit the stuff up on fire. That was just enough for the day. At night it became bits more difficult. I spent endless nights of suffering, trying fall asleep in my room.

Some days he wasn't feeling well, still. He would scream and yell, he kept on talking to himself. Sometimes I had to run to him and make sure he won't kill himself when he was angry. He was too impulsive. His quirk reacted to his emotions. It was terrifying to watch. I hated it. I hated watching my best friend suffering the whole time. It was so damn tiring. One time he pushed me away, burning a bit of my face. It hurt, it was a very hot flame, it left a dark scar around my cheek.

I was hanging around by the sofa as I saw the white cat again. Lately he's been entering our house more often, especially when it was cold outside. Because of his casual visits, I started buying cat food, always placing it somewhere near the chimney so the cat could eat and stay bit warm.

I saw him padding towards the bowl that was lying on the floor, full of cat treats. He sniffed it and then carefully took a bite, before, sitting down and eating peacefully. I observed him from the couch. I was wondering whether I should try to get closer. I've tried it multiple times. At the beginning he would hiss and run away. After some time, he would still try to bite and scratch me, but I managed to touch his head gently. I waited for him to finish eating, so he wouldn't feel threatened about stealing his food. I came closer to the cat, crawling at the end. I stretched my arms out.

The cat showed his fangs, suspicious about me. I kept my hand there, around his snout. The cat hissed. Then he just glared at me, flicking his tail. Slowly, he stretched his neck forward, his nose taking in the odor of my hand. He bopped his nose carefully on my finger. Then he laid back again, his eyes not leaving me. I slowly put my hands closer towards his head. He hissed slightly, but he didn't try to slap my hand away. I waited for a second, before I gently pat his head. The cat stayed there. I took my hand away after a few seconds, not wanting to overwhelm him. The cat flicked his tail again. He then closed his eyes and opened them again, just to lay down the floor to sleep. He barely ever did that, and if only if I was far away. This was the first time sleeping when I was so close. I smiled. He was starting to trust me more.

"What do I name you...?" I murmured to myself.

Suddenly I felt someone crouching down next to me, holding his hand out towards the cat. It was Dabi. He waited for the cat to sniff his hand, too. Finally, the cat woke up and gently sniffed his hand. Now he trusted both of us. He laid back and closed his eyes once again, going back to sleep.

"He's beautiful." I whisper as I observe him.

"Yeah, he is..." Dabi muttered softly.

"He's got white fur and sharp teeth, really sharp teeth." I say, emphasizing the fact that his teeth is sharp.

"Yeah, the color of his fur reminds me of an angel. To be honest, he kind of looks like a fallen angel."

I agree to his observation. The cat did in fact look a bit angelic, although he was also hurt and not the cleanest of all cats. But I knew if we took good care of him he'd look exactly the way Dabi described him: Like a fallen angel.

"Should we name him... Angelfangs?" I propose.

"Angelfangs?" He asks.

"Yeah, well because, he looks like an angel and he has sharp teeth."

Dabi looked at me for a moment.
"Sounds good... I was thinking about, uh, Lucifer."

"Lucifer?"

"A fallen angel! Just like Lucifer."

I rubbed my chin, thinking about it. "Yeah, it suits him well."

"Well so what do we name him? Angelfangs or Lucifer?" He asked.

I looked back at the cat. Which is better? To be honest, both suit him well. I couldn't decide, at all. Dabi seemed to feel the same way about the name giving.

After awkwardly sitting there and staring at the cat, thinking, we both sighed.

"How about we just call him both names. Lucifer Angelfangs. It's like a name and last name, you know?" I proposed.

Dabi nodded to my idea.

Good choice.

Both names are so beautiful. The first name describing his angelic look, the angelic look of a beautiful, fallen and forgotten angel. A sad angel, indeed, almost depressed and lonely, almost a bit obscure, yet so beautiful, something about his presence that made you feel relaxed, almost at peace with the world. The second name emphasized the idea of an angel. His fur white like the light and soft like clouds. His fangs sharp, sharp like a knife. The sharpness of his teeth could be interpreted as the sharpness of his words, though he doesn't actually speak like humans do. His angelic look combined with the sharp teeth, like an innocent angel with a sword that can cut deep, a sword that can cut profound wounds in someone's flesh. It was the perfect name for such a beautiful creature.
