riki didn't sleep a wink that night, and the next day, it was pretty visible on his face. dark circles hung under his eyes and his usually neat hair stuck out in angles that defied the laws of physics. he takes a tired look at himself in the mirror, bringing a slow hand to ruffle his hair in hopes of fixing it.
he takes his dear time to make himself look presentable, because he was riki and there was no way he was going to show up to class in that state. it was pretty obvious that he was tired, but at least he looked alright.
as he arrives in class, riki slumps in his seat, dropped his head on his desk with a dramatic, groaning loudly when he hears Jieun's horribly annoying high pitched voice greet him good morning. he doesn't really budge at first, but soon enough he looks up in horror when he feels a pair of arms hug him from behind, squeezing him like a serpent would squeeze its prey. jieun. of course it was jieun— the biggest enemy of his personal space.
"get off me you maniac" he whines, pushing her off, trying to not hurt her (physically, because emotionally, she was unstoppable) whilst making it clear that he did not wish to make any type of physical contact with her. but yeah, it was useless, despite his efforts, her grip remains unyielding, her arms were still around him and riki wishes he could just smack her with a chair.
jieun pouts, her lips forming a dramatic curve as she feigns hurt. "you're so mean~ you looked like you needed a hug" she cooed, batting her eyelashes at him, her overly sweet voice triggering violent thoughts he should not be having. he narrows his eyes, his patience hanging by a thread. "what i need is sleep and to be as far away as possible from you" his voice is sharp, but he keeps his tone light enough to not turn too many heads.
jieun lets out a giggle, completely unfazed by his words, as if she had become immune to his rejections by now. "maybe you wouldn't be so tired if you didn't stay up all night thinking about me~" she teases, giving him a playful wink.
riki rolls his eyes. he wants to drop his head on his desk again, but her arms are holding him back. "yeah because that's totally what kept me up" he mutters under his breath, as sarcastic as ever. he can feel her hovering over him, probably ready to let more nonsense out of her mouth, and he contemplates the likelihood of her going away if he plays dead. god how he wanted to douse her in gasoline and set her on fire.
suddenly the real reason why he was sleepless walks in class, in her soft pink hoodie, white tennis skirt and her chunkyboots. her hair flows gracefully as she walks, looking as eye catching as ever, greeting her classmates good morning with a soft smile plastered on her glossy lips, her cheeks were pink and her eyes accentuated with her usual sharp eyeliner wing. there was moonbyul. and everyone was happy to see her. everyone loved moonbyul. because she was actually so easy to love and it was about time riki realized that too.
