riki had usually been confident in his decisions. he wasn't the type to second-guess himself, master of his own games, he always had everything under his control. but recently, everything seemed to be spiraling out of his control, and it was all because of one person: moonbyul.
he sat on his bed, staring out the window at the gloomy sky, he could feel the tension in his chest tightening. he had spent the last few days trying to convince himself to let go, that he ruined everything beyond repair, trying his best to kill the stubborn hope in his heart that everything would sort itself out on its own. but deep down, he knew that wasn't true.
riki ran a hand through his tousled hair, frustrated. he remembered the look in moonbyul's eyes when they last spoke—how they had been filled with hurt and confusion. that look haunted him, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he had lost her, despite that being an assumption. he recalls her once telling him back when school started, up at the rooftop, that she didn't see a point in holding grudges. his own response rings in his mind. 'people will take advantage of you if you always forgive them'
oh how he yearned for her forgiveness. he would do anything. drop to his knees and beg if she asked him to, anything to prove himself worthy of a second chance, anything to prove that what he felt for her was real.
but what could he even say to her? how could he begin to explain everything that had been building up inside him, all the emotions he had been too scared to admit, even to himself?
the memory of that morning comes back once more—riki had been sulking in the corner of the common room, avoiding everyone's gaze. he wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone, least of all sunoo, who always seemed to have a way of getting under his skin.
but sunoo of course, being the menace he is, wasn't one to be easily deterred. he had sauntered over to riki with a lopsided grin plastered on his face, plopping down beside him as if he owned the place. "still brooding, i see," sunoo had remarked, not bothering to mask the amusement in his voice.
riki shot him a glare, as frustrated as he was, he had shaken off the idea of punching him in the face right there and then. the levels of patience he had with sunoo were surprising even to him, because anyone else would have gotten wiped out pf existence in the span of minutes, but maybe it was simply because he was moonbyul's friend, and he couldn't afford to anger her further. "what do you want?" he rolles his eyes.
"just checking on my favorite brooding boy," sunoo said with a shrug. riki wondered which part of his misery was entertaining to him. sunoo never knew when to shut his mouth, so you can imagine riki's surprise when he turned to him all serious. "man, you need to snap out of it. what's the point of sulking if you're not gonna do anything about it?"
riki had frowned, not wanting to admit that sunoo had a point, and a good one. "what do you mean?"
"look, i am not entirely sure what's going on between you and moonbyul, because as far as she told me she was mad at you but she looks at you like she wants to kiss you, but it's obvious that you care about her," sunoo said, his tone uncharacteristically serious, despite the unnecessary remarks he never forgot to include in his sentences. "she cares about you too. so why are you sitting here like a sad puppy when you could be out there fixing things?"
