Jeremiah knocked on the door and before we could realise it, it started blinding open indicating that it was cracked open the entire time."And nows the time that an axe murderer comes running at us." I mumbled out.
Belly and I followed Jere as he stepped into the empty dorm room. One side of the dorm was in a kind of mess while the other one looked untouched. The one that was untouched because I'd remembered. Well I remember a lot of things that happened in here. Stop, Athena. Concentrate.
I stood a few steps into the dorm my head looking up at the ceiling as the other two inspectors investigated it like it was some sort of a crime scene. "Oh, look. His bed is made. Things can't be so dire if his bed is made?" I felt her eyes stare at me as she spoke.
Before I could snap a comment back about how I don't care, another voice was heard behind me and it wasn't Jeremiah's. "Whoa. Hey, this is my room that you guys are riffling through."
The guy was Conrad's roommate, which didn't exactly recognise me until I turned around and pulled my lips into a thin smile. "Hi." I think that was the shortest greeting I've ever said.
"Athena! Shit, bro I didn't recognise you." I chuckled at the confusion that was written all over his face before I could hear Jeremiah walking towards us. "It's been a while to say the least. Who are these?" He pointed to Bells and Jere.
Jeremiah reached out his hand to shake with the boy in front of me. "Hey man. I'm Conrad's brother, the one that you talked with on the phone earlier. It's nice to finally meet you."
The guy in his literal bathing robe was so easy to read it was crazy. Just on his facial expression I could understand that he understood our reasoning behind snooping through with dorm. "Okay. Jeremiah, right?"
After they shook hands both of them let go as I was the one that spoke up, neither Belly or Jere really knew this guy. "Um, Conrad hasn't called has he? We've been looking for him, actually." I tried my best to keep my cool. All of this feels so weird.
I shouldn't even be in this situation. I swore not even half a year ago that I'd never do anything good for this boy again, and here I am, worrying my ass off.
"I haven't seen him since Thursday afternoon." The roommate seemed a bit skeptic about everything that's happening. I guess he wanted in on the family drama. I nodded at him response, turning my head to my friends, getting them to understand that it's time for us to leave. We aren't detectives.
"Did something else happen before he left?" Jeremiah asked the guy as the roommate started rubbing his hands together before answering very carefully.
"I mean he did get into it with someone on the phone. Like he was yelling and shit." My heart dropped as those words came out of his mouth. Of course. How didn't I see this before? Conrad's obviously gone to visit his new girlfriend because they argued or some shit and he really cares to make up with her. That's the most logical situation I could think of.
And who the fuck would Conrad be getting it into on the phone with, it only means that it's his girlfriend. Shit. I bit my bottom lip and stared down at the ground. I couldn't move on, not even kiss a guy and Conrad already had a new girlfriend. That guy moved fast.
Belly squeezed my hand, making sure that I was okay with all of this before Jeremiah questioned the guy again. "And then he just took off? Was that the last time you heard from him?"
"No, he actually texted me this morning to ask me if I could take notes in biology class. I would be annoyed but I've spent the whole year copying his work so I can't really complain, you get me?"
