Kook had recalled the text that Yoongi was coming in a half an hour, that Yoongi was finally coming to his place. He hadn't stopped pacing since then. Yoongi could finally give him answers. Taehyung had tried to kill himself—Jimin had told him. but there was more to it than that.
Why had Namjoon been smiling at him like that then? He'd done something to Yoongi--he knew that for sure. Jungkook was so wracked with worry that he couldn't sleep last night, and he'd had to leave Jimin's because he was so panicked.
And now, pacing his house, his hands shook with anticipation. He just wanted to hold Yoongi, and make sure he was okay.
Jungkook jumped out of his skin when he heard the doorbell buzz. He hurried over and let Yoongi in, leaving him to bounce on his heels anxiously in front of the elevator doors.
The door slid open, and he saw his boy, in the same sweater with his new short hair. He tackled Yoongi in a hug, holding him tight. Had Yoongi gotten thinner? Was that really possible in the past twenty-four hours?
"Oh-hey Bunny." Yoongi said quietly, hugging Jungkook back. JK could feel the tiredness from Yoongi seeping into his touch.
"God--I'm so glad you're okay." Jk pulled away, looking down at the other eagerly. Yoongi looked up, almost quizzically.
"You were really worried, weren't you?"
"Of course I'm worried! You run out of the art show and Felix was crying--Namjoon was being a dick--and-and I went to your place which is trashed by the way if you didn't know. Who keeps robbing you? Is it Namjoon? Hoseok? And then I go to Jimin's you're nowhere to be found--blood is everywhere and Jimin was sobbing. He told me you just disappeared so yes, with all that I'm of course a little worried about my boyfriend, yeah?" Jungkook takes a breath and looks down at the older.
He looked like he was going to burst into tears, his eyes were growing red. He looked at the ground, biting his lip. Jungkook realized he'd gone too far, and despite his worry, Yoongi was okay.
"Hey if you--"
"I really messed up, didn't I?" Yoongi smiled sadly and rubbed his eyes. "God I--"
Jungkook kissed his forehead. "You didn't mess up; do you need a minute? I can go make food."
He nodded and avoided looking Jungkook in the eyes. "I need a shower. "
"I can agree, bathrooms in my room. Take whatever you want out of my closet, I'll just be in here, okay?"
Yoongi nodded and walked into Jk's bedroom. Jungkook sighed and turned into his own kitchen. He craved answers but wouldn't push Yoongi beyond how distressed he looked right now. He started to make some simple ramen, like Yoongi, he hadn't eaten either. Out of worry, mostly.
He sat at the bar with the steaming bowls of soup waiting for Yoongi to come out.
When he did, Jungkook felt himself blush. Yoongi had chosen one of JK's workout shirts and pajama pants. Both did NOT fit him, making him look small. His eyes looked sad as he silently came and sat next to Jungkook.
Jungkook saw his bare arms. He hadn't seen them before, not clearly anyway. Yoongi always had them covered, and even when they'd been in bed together, they'd always been focused on other things in the dark.
Yoongi's arms were milky white, making his blue veins prominent. But they were littered with scars, it made Jungkook's heart drop with pain. He hadn't been there to help Yoongi when he needed it. Why couldn't they have met sooner? On his right wrist, three dots. Like the ones Namjoon had pointed out on his neck.
"Did Namjoon do this to you?" Jungkook took Yoongi's wrist gently and turned it, seeing the dark scars of Yoongi's past.
"Do you really want to know the answer to that, kook?" Yoongi didn't look at Jungkook, his eyes were glued on the counter across from the bar.
"I do. Yoongi, whatever it is, whatever happened I'm still here and I adore the person you are today. Whatever you had to go through to get to be the person you are, I'll accept it because I care, okay?" Jungkook ran his hands over Yoongi's scars to interlock their fingers.
"I used to be part of a gang." Yoongi confessed. "Namjoon's gang. I had to leave because Namjoon gave me an ultimatum. Leave, or give Namjoon my first love, Jung Hoseok. I left and had to cut Hoseok out of my life. But--" Yoongi took a breath and closed his eyes.
"He's been watching me this whole time. Joon found out about it and took it out on me--he tortured Taehyung for a night after learning his name. He destroyed my house the first time. And-and--" He took another breath.
"Hoseok was helping me out, keeping me safe for a while. But he saw us, that night in my apartment. And he trashed my apartment and sold me out. So I went to Daegu, my hometown. I sold him out. They're making a plan; I'm going to get rid of Namjoon. Taehyung wants me too."
That wasn't what Jungkook had expected. He stared at Yoongi for a while, absorbing the facts Yoongi had just said. Yoongi had been in a gang. Taehyung had been tortured. Now Yoongi was going to destroy him. Since when had this boy held so much violence? Okay maybe it was worse than Jungkook thought it was.
"Wow Yoongi..."
"If you don't want me anymore, I get it. I have the situation handled now, but I know it's a lot. I wanted to tell you, but it's a bit early for that isn't it?"
Jungkook nodded mindlessly, he knew this information came with a price. Everything made sense now. "How...can I help you, Yoongi?"
Yoongi looked up, eyes wide. "What do you mean?"
"I help those I hold dear. And you're very dear to me, Min Yoongi. So let me help you?"
"You do remember how much trouble follows me, right? It'll be dangerous sticking to me, Jeon Jungkook." Yoongi looked down at their intertwined hands.
"I like a bit of danger." Jungkook smiles and kisses Yoongi, feeling the boy curve into him. "How can I help?" he pulls away from the kiss, longing for more.
Yoongi thought, scrunching up his nose. "I have all the resources I need. I need a place to stay, but a hotel room might be the safest--"
"No. You can stay here Yoongi, don't worry." Jungkook pulls his boyfriend closer, so their knees were touching.
"Really?"
"Yes really. Now I have a few questions."
"Shoot." Yoongi took a bite of ramen, finally looking calm enough to eat.
"Did Hoseok ever hurt you?"
"Not physically, no." Yoongi took another bite. "Why?"
"What does that mean?"
"He trashed my house and held a gun to my head. Besides that, we had fights, but nothing ever turned physical." Yoongi shrugged.
"He held a gun to your head?" Jungkook's heart jumped with just how much danger Yoongi had really been in.
"He wasn't going to pull the trigger. It was when they ambushed me--"
"You were ambushed?" Jungkook's voice rose as Yoongi's only got more casual.
"Yes, but I lost them." Yoongi pulled his arm free of Jungkook's panicked grip, looking over him. Jungkook couldn't handle all of the truth, clearly.
"That's normal for you?" Jungkook asks. After a short nod, he asked Yoongi another question. "When did you join the gang?"
"Sixteen." Yoongi said quietly, his hand dropping onto the counter dully. "Left when I turned eighteen. But the damage was done, I'm marked for life."
Jungkook looked down at the gang mark on his wrist. He took it and kissed the scar, making eye contact with Yoongi. "It doesn't matter to me, so what's the next step?"
"I need to sleep." Yoongi stood, smiling softly at the other boy. "I'll deal with the rest in the morning, yeah?" He held his hand out to Jungkook.
