Reece pov
I was on my way home from the nursery knowing that Marjorie was already there since she got out earlier today. I got home and was calling out to Marjorie since I knew she was home since her car was there but didn't get an answer.
When I got to the living room I saw her there with a wine glass and on the table the bottle. I got closer noticing she was zoned out. I keep calling her name out after some try's I just decided to slightly touch her trying not to scare her. When she reacted she slightly jumped but nothing else she just looked at me with a confused look.
"Gorgeous are you okay I been calling you for I while and you haven't answered or reacted" I said looking at her she just nodded " Yeah... yeah I okay how was work?" I looked at her noticing she was changing the topic " it was okay but what happened that you are changing the subject Marjorie?" I ask getting worried
"It's nothing I'm going to go and lay down" gets up putting her wine glass on the table heading upstairs not letting me even speak when she got upstairs I could only hear the bedroom door close I could tell she was upset so I decided to cook her comfort food which is pasta
Some time had passed and I finish cooking and started serving her a plate since she was downstairs already I called her over and when she came over she was in one of my hoodies. She sat down with me and started playing with her food which is not usual she normally loves what I cook her
"What is it darling? Is the food okay? Why aren't you eating?" I say putting down my fork and looking at her
"Yeah it's okay darling, I'm just not hungry" she said in a whisper still looking at her plate of food "it's okay darling if you just want to eat something else I can cook for you something else" I say getting up to go to the kitchen
"No it's okay I'll just go upstairs you can continue eating" she said getting up and started heading for the stairs I follow her and get in her way and hugging her immediately I felt some tear on my hoodie " it's okay gorgeous when you feel like talking I'll be here for you when your ready" I said caressing her back slowly releasing she started to cry harder. When she stopped crying she told me she was going to shower and left and in a few minutes I heard the water running.
It's been almost half an hour and I can still hear the water running I got worried so I knocked at not hearing a reply I open the door I see her sat on the floor of the shower the water she was clearly zoned out lost in her thoughts so I slowly make my way closer to her softly calling her name when close to her she looked at me feeling my presence I got her up and out the shower wrapping her up in a towel after a while she just hugged me tightly not letting me go so i grab her and bring her to the closet grabbing her clothes and then separated the hug to get her dressed. After she was dressed I put her on the bed laying beside her and her immediate getting on top of me. While I caress her hair.
"Mhm." That's the first noise I hear her do since she went to shower so I look at her to see her eyes are shining with tear.
" I fucked up Reece, Janice's isn't backing down and know Roger is picking the manager and she's obviously picking her and she's going to fire me" I barely hear this last part I hug her tightly " Reece 15 years spent on that nursery for nothing! So he merges the nursery and this women how doesn't have not only 10 years of being a manager! Worst part is she made valid points for why I shouldn't be manager." By this time the waterworks started to come out and it just broke my heart I have never seen her like that. I seen her go through a lot of emotions but none of them this bad.
"Darling we still don't know maybe my dad could pick you and if not the case darling it's his lost. I know it most hurt it's 15 years of dedication gone down the toilet especially since you never take sick days or none of that. And forget what she said darling you can't let her kick you down and if she does at the end of the day you have me , Aut, Char, Winter, Carly and all the staff in the nursery to pick you back up so please try to cheer up show her that your better then her and that she could never take you down because you have your work family with you" I say kissing her head she finally calmed down
"Your right I'm not giving up I have earned my spot as a manager and if Roger can't see that f him!" She said looking at me after she wiped them tears away "That it darling you are getting it now before we do anything let's get you something to eat at least a few bits" I get up helping her up and hugging her and then going downstairs hand in hand with her.
"I don't want pasta Reece I'm not in the mood sorry but I will eat it for lunch tomorrow if that doesn't bother you" I smile at her and nod telling her it's okay and started looking to see what I can make her and telling her. Ended up just making her a sandwich and handing it to her and watching her eat it and then I took a shower and when to bed to her kissing her head and saying good night waiting till she fell asleep so I could sleep.
