Damion pulled into the local gas station and began fueling his Viper when he heard the distinctive sound of a turbocharged boxer engine approaching. The owner of the car was blasting the latest track from Japanese artist, Yellowbucks, Damion looked up to see Saki and another girl in the car with the guy. It was safe to assume that the owner was Hayato. He couldn't help but admire the vibrant energy that they exuded, their laughter mingling with the music as they pulled up to the pump next to him.
"Go inside and get us some snacks, Kyouka-chan..." Hayato smirked while grabbing her ass.
"On it...c'mon, Saki!" Kyouka chirped.
Saki smiled brightly as she exited the car, her face aglow with the joy of seeing Hayato once again. Kyouka followed closely behind her, the two figures disappearing into the convenience store.
Damion watched, his features unreadable, as the group engaged in their banter and horseplay. It was clear that Saki had returned to the lifestyle she knew all too well, and for a fleeting moment, Damion couldn't help but feel a pang of sorrow at the sight.
He watched as Hayato grabbed Kyouka's ass, the possessive smirk on his face, a familiar sight to Saki. Damion wondered if she was truly happy, or if she'd just slipped back into the safety of the known, trapped by the invisible shackles of her past.
Regardless, he knew he had done all he could for Saki. The choice to return to Hayato was hers to make, a choice that he respected even if he didn't agree with it.
As Damion continued to fuel his Viper, the memories of their time together weighed heavily on his mind, a constant reminder of what Saki could have been. He hoped, for her sake, that she would eventually find the strength to break free from the vices that consumed her, to reclaim the innocent girl he had once glimpsed.
Damion was broken out of his trance by Hayato as he approached him. He reeked of cigarettes and his years of drug abused aged him quite heavily.
"Nice car." Hayato said as he lit a cigarette while trying to chat up with Damion, "Dodge Viper...she a first gen?
"Second gen." Damion replied and closed the fuel door.
"Ahh, beautiful car. How much?" asked Hayato.
"Excuse me?"
Hayato leaned against the Viper's front fender, "How much for the car!?" He asked, his irritation clearly growing.
"It's not for sale," said Damion and got inside his truck.
"Everything has a price, you American prick." Hayato muttered under his breath in Japanese.
"Not everything..." Damion replied back in Hayato's native tongue.
Just as Hayato was about to lunge at Damion, Kyouka grabbed him by the arm and said with a giggle. "Have a good day, Mr. Sailor." The interaction left a bitter taste in Damion's mouth, but he somehow managed to keep his emotions in check thanks in part to his training.
"Haa, what a rude bastard." Hayato scoffed as he exhaled some smoke from his lungs, "Not even gonna answer a simple question. This is why I hate Americans. Bunch of entitled assholes." He muttered under his breath before throwing away the cigarette and turning to Kyouka.
Watching the tense exchange unfold from the relative safety of the minimart, Saki's stomach churned uneasily. Though she tried to appear absorbed in perusing the snack aisle, her peripheral vision remained trained on the escalating confrontation, each passing second stretching into an interminable era.
Saki felt a pang of guilt as her gaze flicked from the store's offerings to the scene unfolding outside. Damion's demeanor, a stark contrast to the camaraderie they'd once shared, left her with a nagging sense of unease.
