Eren stared down at the open nape underneath him. There was nothing but green curling smoke and slowly disintegrating flesh.

"NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

He was furious. That sneaky bastard. HE GOT AWAY AGAIN! He gripped at his hair, swords falling to his sides. Where the hell is my brother?! Eren took a running leap from the neck before the carcass had fallen to the ground feeling the heavy thrust of air on his unshielded face. Squinting on the ground he saw nothing but windblown grass. **** he escaped again... So much for a cowardly brother.  A moment later he tumbled onto the soft grass before Squadron Leader Zacharias landed besides him.

The firm grip on his shoulder threatened to snap his arm in half and Eren let out a hiss before jumping out of reach.

"****! WHAT IS THAT FOR!!" He rubbed his shoulders sourly as Zacharias glared at him with ferocity.

"YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS FOR JAEGER!! When will you learn to let the adults take the lead?!" Eren looked away frustrated before flopping onto the grass.

"Because this is personal."

"What did you say?"

"Hmmph you wouldn't understand either..." He patted down his uniform and shook the dirt off his boots before sliding the swords back into the scabbard capsule. A crystal clear SHIIINK echoed around the empty glade while Mike wondered what exactly the soldier meant.

"Your horse is still alive you know? Or did you forget to check on everybody else?" Eren tossed back as he led Hunter and the squadron leader's beautiful mare back.

"Oooh... yes... yes of course" They both saddled up with Mike taking the lead.

"Well... one thing is for certain." Eren muttered glancing at his out stretched hands, observing every vein, every tendon, and every callus.

"Hmm?"

"I still can't seem to control the founding power." He let out a low grumble, biting his lip and staring into the distant horizon.

"You'll get better at it." Mike grunted continuing to guide his slightly spooked horse. It had been so long since Eren had turned back time and his memory was slightly patchy. Something wasn't right. He remembered Mike's incident... he remembered Utgard Castle... he remembered being captured by Reiner and Bertholdt but somehow something was missing. He just couldn't put his finger on it. Zach wouldn't have smashed the wall would he? Or was that later? If he did smash the walls why didn't the alarm bells start ringing? Where did these titans come from...

There was no time to think useless thoughts and he needed to hurry towards the others. The Castle Utgard slaughter must not happen again. Not on his watch.

(Castle Utgard)

Night had fallen in walls, only the sound of hooting owls, soft rustle of tall grass, and the quiet but steady clip clop of horses. Torch lights flickered lighting up overlapping pools of illumination on the barely worn path into the southern wilderness.

Five horses their sleek coats lit up only by the flaming torch continued their confused descent.

Huff. Huff. Haa. Pants and huffs resounded in the oddly quiet night. So quiet that every cracked twig and trampled whispers of weeds sent the small procession glancing over their shoulders and craning their necks. All of them were shaking and fearful. It was night and night was dangerous. Who knew if beasts... or even titans lurked around the next turn and rolling hill.

"Sh****t..."

"Gelgar? What's wrong?"

"This darkness is driving me insane..."

The walls were so close and yet it did not give the blonde man an ounce of reassurance. The walls were no longer trustworthy. Ahead of them four pinpricks of light announced the return of Nanaba as she conversed upon Gelgar's team. A confused frown was clearly etched on her face as she met up with the other squad leader.

"You guys running along the wall as well?" Gelgar tousled his blonde mullet after an awkward and foreboding pause.

"Yeah... did you find the breach?" He stared at his team-mate in astonishment.

"Huh?"

"What do you mean 'huh'?!" Instantly Nanaba was at her wits end.

"Did you not find the breach?!" Gelgar didn't say anything feeling the stares of the soldiers bore holes in his back.

"Don't tell me... there's no breach... but that's also physically impossible for that many titans to sprout out of nowhere! Did your squad miss something?!" Nanaba pulled at her hair as Christa and Ymir trotted up next to her.

"Listen Nanaba we've traced the walls with the utmost attention and I can tell you with assurance that we didn't miss ANYTHING." Henning piped up up behind them with a quaver in his voice. Then where did all the titans come from? This didn't make sense at all!!

"Wait a second... weren't there titans in the walls? What if we were attacked from within?" Lynne murmured from behind them all as she flanked the newer soldiers. At this Nanaba and Gelgar turned simultaneously towards her.

"What?"

An attack from within?!! The foreboding theory sank into all their already freezing cold bones. What if... the titans were from within the walls to begin with?
