CW: Very glossed over smootsmoot. I wouldn't even call it that but someone might.
Theo fought the urge to push Garlick off of him. Why she felt the need to act possessive of him was a mystery, it wasn't like she didn't know she was one on a list of many.
"You haven't introduced us yet." Merlin, and her fucking whiney voice.
He needed to calm down. He knew he was on edge because of Podex, but Garlick certainly wasn't helping.
Levi was obviously uncomfortable introducing her, which caught his attention. "Uh, Theo Hawke, Maria Garlick, this is my cousin, Charlotte Sallow."
Sallow.
His eyes flitted to her. Tiny thing. Pretty. Depending on her personality, Theo might just ask her to join his list of-
No. Off limits. This was Levi's cousin, he reminded himself.
Charlotte Sallow's eyes were on Garlick, and there was an obvious dislike there. How, and so quickly, did she evaluate and choose to dislike Garlick? Interesting.
"Oh, she's a cousin?" He heard Garlick say and realized he was missing part of the conversation. He needed to pay attention.
"That's right. Charlie, this is Theodore Hawke and Maria Garlick."
Charlie. Why 'Charlie'? Why not instead Lottie or something? But the more he studied her, the more he realized Charlie suited her.
Garlick stepped forward to hug the girl and Theo felt his eyes widen in amusement for a moment when Charlie put her hand up to stop her. He quickly schooled his expression.
"No thanks, I do not like hugs."
"But you just hugged Gaunt?"
"My family, yes, they receive my hugs." Charlie nodded, speaking slowly as if Garlick were stupid. Theo felt amused, though he didn't show it. Quite the attitude this little thing had. Then her eyes met his.
Dark eyes, deep brown. Orange, red, and black mixed together would be able to create the color perfectly. She quickly looked away from him, which confused Theo. She hadn't shown a speck of interest in him. He shook his head to himself. He knew he wasn't everyone's type, but he couldn't remember a time a girl lost interest in looking at him so quickly. What the fuck?
Doesn't matter. She's. Off. Limits.
"Oh, a new slytherin?!"
Great. Gang's all fucking here, he thought as Caste walked up to start yapping away. Levi introduced Caste and Charlie, and again Charlie seemed to not appreciate Caste's energy. So very interesting, how quickly she read people. She must be observant.
"Is it time for dinner? I already forgot which way to go, so you'll have to lead me, if that's okay?"
Or not.
Levi agreed and put his arm around her shoulders, leading her back up the stairs of the common room. He was so relaxed with her, it was nice to see. Levi deserved someone to relax with that wasn't just him.
They walked quickly and Caste and Garlick started to talk. Caste was insulting Charlie already, forever trying to get on Garlick's good side.
Charlie glanced back at them as if to assess the distance before whispering to Levi. Theo's eyes trailed off over Levi and Charlie's heads as he walked with Garlick and Caste, doing his damnedest to tune them out. Rumors around this school were tough enough, but to have someone already starting some on her first day? She was in for a crazy school year. Girls here were ruthless.
