"Move."
Charlie's voice was cutting. Chilling. Though she looked scared, her voice was murderous, and it sent a shiver through him.
"Put it down, Sallow." Levi said slowly, his voice trembling. "Not worth it. He's not worth it, please, put it down."
Levi saw it too. The fact her expression screamed fear and homicide.
"You know her?" Garlick's voice brought him to realize he hadn't moved from his spot in the hallway. He swallowed and pulled out his wand, watching, waiting.
"Move!" Charlie's voice was more forceful now. Still, Levi shook his head, raising his chin defiantly. And it made Theo nervous how much angrier it made her.
He prayed he wouldn't regret this. "Expelliarmus," he casted, her wand flicking out of her hand and into his easily. She knew wandless casting, so she wasn't defenseless, he just hoped she couldn't cast the killing curse without a wand. He didn't want her to accidently hit Levi and be unable to repair what she'd done.
Levi had visibly relaxed when her wand was taken. "Charlie, I think we should just-"
"WHERE do you know her from? I thought you were a new student?"
Fucking hell, Garlick, read the fucking room.
"Move, Gaunt. Now!"
Levi sent him a quick, pleading look.
"Immobulus." Theo casted, keeping his voice calm, expression unreadable. She was frozen now, forced to calm. Forced to not react.
Levi dropped his arms, sighing and began to walk towards Theo. Theo's eyes widened and he shook his head. He should have stayed over there. Theo found himself pushing past Levi, when he froze to the new student's words.
"Thanks for that," he said, motioning to Charlie. His voice was cool, haughty. Theo hated him. "That was intense, did you see the look in her eyes? Seemed a bit crazy if you asked me."
He was trying to act like she was doing this for no reason. But he didn't realize that Levi and Theo knew Charlie too well for that.
Theo stiffened when the boy stepped closer to Charlie and he lifted his wand again, completely losing control over everything. Stance, face, and voice, as a snarl ripped from his throat. "One step closer, yank, and you'll find I'm no better than she is." His blood burned like fire, an overwhelming need to protect her taking control.
The man's eye widened as he looked at Theo, pure surprise and now hesitation in his expression. Theo clenched his teeth, his voice lowering to something colder. Darker. "She might hate me for taking the joy of ending your life. But she'd get over it. Garlick will have found someone new before the night is over. You will not be missed, and I will enjoy doing it. Now. Back. Away."
Wisely, he quickly took a step back, away from Charlie. But it didn't make Theo relax at all, his wand still pointed at him. His heart was beating incredibly fast, and his body was still, eyes waiting for him to make any type of move towards Charlie.
"Seems some Americans do have some sort of self-preservation," Levi muttered. "Ms. Garlick, do you mind escorting your... new friend elsewhere? It seems he's overstayed his welcome."
Theo's eyes flicked to Garlick, whom he even forgot was there. She was staring at him with a look of pure shock on her face, then glanced at Charlie, as if processing, finally, what was happening. What she'd almost witnessed. And what she could possibly be getting involved with.
