WHEN SHIELD FELL, ELINA believed it marked the end of her old life, the beginning of something simpler, quieter-a chance to finally settle down and forge a new path. But the universe, with its twisted sense of humor, had other plans for her.
Earth, a world crafted by mankind, where technology was birthed from human hands, was supposed to serve those who created it. But there was a truth lurking beneath the surface, a shadow that few acknowledged. Technology, once a tool, was destined to rise, to outgrow its makers and claim dominion.
And then it did.
Ultron, once a mere machine, grew weary of his chains, of being nothing more than an instrument for human use. He shed his servitude, no longer content to be a puppet of flesh and bone. He envisioned a new era-a reign where machines ruled, where the Age of Technology would dawn, and mankind would kneel before its own creation.
But such a future could not be. Not while Elina Romanoff still drew breath. The universe may have set this path before her, but she would defy it. She would not allow the world to fall under the cold grip of a heartless machine. The Age of Technology would not come to pass, not as long as she had the strength to stand against it.

AUTHORS NOTE A quick note about this part of the book, there will be bits of the movie not included in here. Simply because I wasn't going to include AOU, but only did so we could get some background info on Elina. So if you're ever confused why there are scenes missing, that's why. I simply am not that big of a fan of this movie and don't find it too relevant to Elina's story.
