And then that afternoon ...

Win decided to meet Mr. Royce in a small cafe located in a far end of their city
Win was occupying the table in the corner, he was waiting for Mr. Royce while sipping his favorite flavor of iced coffee, iced french vanilla latte
Bright looked around and he saw that Mr. Royce entered the cafe
"He's here, sir." Bright informed Win
Win nodded and straightened his posture, "Alright."
Mr. Royce recognized Bright as to why he made his way to him
Then he saw Win and felt nervous, "President." he bowed down
"Sit, Mr. Royce." Win motioned him to sit on the chair in front of him
"Would you like anything to drink or to eat?" Win asked him
Mr. Royce immediately shook his head, "I'm all good, president, thank you."
Win nodded at him then he said, "So, I've heard there's something you wanna tell me."
Mr. Royce simply swallowed the lump in his throat then nodded
"It's about the slush fund issue, president." Mr. Royce started, he couldn't look up and look at Win, he was just looking at the floor
He continued, "It's true that I was the one behind it. It's also true that Mrs. Williams' signature on the report was fake. Mrs. Williams talked me through it."
"She told me that if I did it, she'd give me enough money for my sister's hospital fees and medicines." Mr. Royce added
"I am truly sorry, president. I just got caught up in a situation. I needed the money for my sister's recovery." Mr. Royce put his hands together and sincerely said his resentment to Win
"You can stop doing that now." said by Win that made Mr. Royce to immediately look at him
Win continued, "If you're in a tight situation, you could've talked to me about it and I would be glad to help you. But I guess, it couldn't be helped that Mrs. Williams was the one who offered you help first."
"I appreciate you telling all the truth to me right now." Win added
He spoke again, "I believe that Mrs. Williams would give you money only once. So, I'll support the whole period for your sister's recovery. Hospital admission fees, check-ups, medicines and other things related to that."
Mr. Royce became teary, "Thank you so much, president."
"But just in one condition." said by Win
"Anything, president." Mr. Royce immediately nodded
Win said, "Give me a solid proof that Mrs. Williams is the one who's really behind all of this."
"She-she used her own bank account to send me the money, will that be enough, president? That is only what I have that can be used against her." Mr. Royce said
Win nodded, "I guess, that will do. Send it to my secretary's e-mail and he'll be in touch with you."
"I'll send it right away, president." Mr. Royce bowed down
Win nodded, "I'll be off then." he stood up
"A simple thank you wouldn't be enough for you, president." Mr. Royce added, still bowing down
"As long as you learned from your mistakes and won't do it again, that would be enough." said by Win
Then Mr. Royce said, "You can count on it, president."
"Let's go." Win said to Bright
Bright bowed down and motioned Win to walk ahead

Meanwhile on the other side ...

"Seems like President Win is picking up on things." said by Mrs. Williams
The man she was talking to, faced her
Revealing none other than Baifern's father, Win's father-in-law
"We have to move faster." Mrs. Williams added
"Well, we need him dead faster." Baifern's father chuckled

A brand new day ...

Win just finished his schedule in a primary school located in the rural part of their city
Bright was the one driving, Nani was not with them as Mr. Lance needed him to do something
It was just a peaceful drive with the mountains and farm in sight when Bright noticed a two motorbikes suspicious
He overtake two cars and the two motorbikes immediately followed his tail that just confirmed his suspicion
"Hey, I want to live my life as long as I can, you know?" said by Win
Bright glanced at him through the rearview mirror then he said, "We got company, sir."
Win gave him a confused look then he saw Bright was looking at the back through the rearview mirror
Win looked back and saw that there was two back motorbikes behind them, they couldn't see the riders' face 'cause they had a helmet on
"Seems like the person who wants you dead is quickening up their pace." said by Bright, causing Win to look at him
"Do you really think it's my father-in-law?" Win asked him
Bright nodded, "No doubt, sir."
He was trying to lose the two motorbikes on their tail, no matter how fast he drove, the two motorbikes wouldn't back down still
Win let out a heavy deep breath
"Can I suggest something, sir?" Bright asked
Win looked at him and nodded, "Go on."
Bright said, "You should lay low for a while."
"By lay low, you mean?" Win asked him
"Stay in the countryside for the meantime till we secure a solid proof that your father-in-law is the one who's behind all of this." Bright answer
Win immediately followed up, "What if he isn't?" he still doesn't want to believe that his father-in-law is the person who wants him dead
"If he isn't, then good. Either way, we'd find out who really that person is." Bright responded
"Alright." Win nodded then he added, "But we gotta let my family and Mr. Lance know first."
"Of course, sir." Bright nodded
Then under the tunnel, the two motorbikes tried to catch up with them
Bright turned the steering wheel to the right and hit the one motorbike
"Oh my! Is he dead?" Win reacted and looked at the rider
'Is that what his concern is right now? Really?' Bright thought, he looked at the other motorbike who was trying to catch up with them while they were still under the tunnel
"He'll live, sir." said by Bright
Win let out a sigh in relief
"They are actually after your life and yet, you're concerned about theirs?" Bright sarcastically asked
"I just don't want anyone to die on my watch, okay?" Win's rebut, he even rolled his eyes at Bright
Thankfully, they passed the tunnel, the motorbike tried to go on the low again
