Roused from a deep sleep, I'm disoriented; what is that banging noise? Ah, there it is—I believe someone is at the door.

"Hello, who is there?"

"It's me, Elexander. Can you let me in first?"

I open the door; he walks right in as if he owns the place.

"Can I help you, sir?"

"Beautiful, I told you to call me Elexander. Blake informed me about what happened; just making sure you are alright. I was at the bakery, but you were not there. Your friend told me you had the morning off."

"Yes, I'm fine, thank you."

Just then, I realize I am still in my pajamas, and they are quite short. "Oh, umm, can you excuse me, Elexander? Let me get some clothes on. Please have a seat; I will be just a minute."

Walking away, I can feel his eyes on me, and he is humming some words. I run to my room, looking through some clothes to wear. I don't have a lot, but at least it is decent. Brushing my long hair, I start to walk out of the room to find him looking at my photos that I had hung in the living room.

"Good, you're done; you look beautiful."

"Thank you, Elexander. Ready to go."

"I'm sorry, go where? I don't know you, and you don't have a choice in this, baby. You can walk, or I will carry you."

"Okay, but where are we going?"

"It's a secret; you will see."

Walking to the car, he holds me close to him. Blushing a deep shade of pink, I distract myself by looking around.

"Don't worry about these people; they are only here to protect us. Elara, meet my driver, Neo."

"Nice to meet you, ma'am."

"Please call me Elara, sir, I'm not that important."

"Are you ready to go?"

"Yes, I am."

"Tell me, doll. Something about you."

"What do you want to know?"

"Something that you are willing to share."

"Well, I was born and raised in Scotland; we owned a farm. I love nature and animals and have always wanted a dog."

"Interesting. What made you move to New York?"

"Well," I start to tear up a little, "I lost my parents in a train crash when I was 10, which led to me living with my aunt."

"Sorry, I shouldn't have asked that."

"It's okay, Elex. Sometimes I miss home. Is it okay if I call you Elex?"

"Yes, you can call me anything."

"And you, what is your story, Mr. Elexander?"

"You are indeed the first woman to ask me that; it seems you really don't know who I am."

"I have no idea; I'm sorry."

"You don't have to be sorry. So, what do you want to know?"

"Anything is fine."

"Well, my name is Elexander Knight. I am 35 years old, the CEO and owner of Alexander Enterprises. I don't know who my parents are; I was adopted by the Knight family."

"Oh, so you must be pretty famous then."

"Something like that. Look, we have arrived."

"Sorry, I don't normally know someone; I don't use social media or watch TV, I only read books."

"You don't have to apologize; I appreciate book lovers, especially when they look like you."

"What do you mean by 'look like me'?"

"Beautiful, smart, loving, caring."

Now I'm blushing. "Thank you!"

"You are welcome, my dear.
