Chapter 24

"She runs to the bathroom, and I follow her, holding her up. 'My love are you okay?'. 'I can't drink milkshakes anymore; they make me sick.' 'Do you want to go to the hospital?' I ask. 'No, I'm fine. I just need to lie down. Just close the door when you leave,' she says. She walks to the room, lies on the bed, and falls asleep." "Sitting in the chair next to the bed, looking at my girl, thinking about what to do next. 'You will hurt her more; Alexander that words keep playing in my head. How can I send the woman I love to the hospital? I don't know what to do. Will she ever forgive me?"

"Maybe Blake was right. I will do anything for her, and I mean anything. A few hours go by, and she wakes up, looking at me. 'Elex, what are you still doing here?' she asks." "Making sure you are okay, my love. 'I'm okay, Elex. Thank you. Are you hungry?' she smiles at me. 'I'm always hungry, Elex. There are two babies in my belly; they eat a lot.'"

"We are having two babies. Yes, wow, I can't believe it! How far along are you, my love?" "Five weeks tomorrow." "Can we please talk, my love? I really need to talk to you." "Yes, Elex, we can talk." "I know I have hurt you badly and treated you like trash, and I don't even know if I can ever forgive myself for what I have done. I just had a bad day at work and blacked out. I didn't even remember what happened until I looked at the video footage. I can't sleep or eat; I can't stop thinking about what I did. I can't believe I almost killed our babies." I was in tears when I was done talking.

"Elex, how would I know you will not black out and hurt us again? I was scared of you, Elex. I was scared out of my mind for the safety of my kids and also my safety. Do you know how I felt lying in that hospital bed, thinking the man you love is capable of hurting you and his kids?"

"My love, I will never, and I mean ever, do anything like that again. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. I can't live without you. I would die before I ever hurt you and our children. I will be the best husband and father, and I also want a lot of kids with you."

"Elena stands from the bed, holding my shaking shoulders. She bends down and wipes the tears away from my face. 'Elex, you must promise me you will never hurt us. You must also promise to not drink that much. You must promise me you will protect us from your blackouts. I can't live in fear, Elex, I can't. If you fail, I'm gone forever, and there will be no second chances, and I mean that.'"

"My love, I promise you, never, and I mean it, I will not hurt you. I would rather die before I hurt you again." She bends down, kisses my lips, pulls away, and looks me in the eyes. "I will forgive you, Elex, because I love you so much." I stand up, hugging my girl for dear life, lift her off the ground, and start to kiss her lips.

"Will you still marry me, my love?" I ask, smiling while I hold her in my arms. She looks at me and says, "Yes, Elex, I still want to marry you." I lower her to the ground, bend on one knee, holding a brand-new engagement ring out of my pocket, and slide it on her finger. "I want to marry you tomorrow, my love. I don't want to wait anymore."

"Finally, the two of you made up. I wake up to Neo. 'Please, Neo, will you come back to work? I will give you a raise in your salary and a big thank you for looking after Elana. You are one hell of a worker, and I kind of miss your company.'" "Thank you, sir. I will be honored to work for you again."

"Taking my girl's hand, we walk to my car. I open the door, and she slides in. We drive to our house and spend the rest of the night, making love."
