"Come on, beautiful, open those beautiful eyes of yours."

Pain is all over my body, my head hurts. I need water. Slowly, I move my head towards the water, and Elex sees that. He gives me a little to drink, bit by bit.

"Thank you, Elex." My voice is a little crackly. "Can you call the doctor?"

I gaze at Blake with anger. "What happened, Elex?"

"You were injured, my love. Just don't move."

Blake went to call the doctor, and, in a few minutes, he walked in with the doctor. He did his examination by checking her wound. He asked her if she felt pain elsewhere, to which she said no.

"Good, you can go home now, but you need to rest. No walking around, no doing work, strictly stay in bed, or else we will keep you here longer," the doctor said.

"Okay, thank you, doctor. She will stay in bed, that I can promise you," Alex told the doctor. "Blake, call Neo Co. to have some of her important stuff packed and taken to my house. I will call Anderson to go buy her some stuff at the store and ask one of the maids to prepare the room next to mine. Yes, we will have a talk later; we need to sort out some things."

"Elex, you don't have to; I don't want to be a burden to you."

"You are no burden, my love. Are you hungry? Do you want to eat?"

"No thanks, Elex, I'm okay for now," I said with a small smile on my face as he bent down, kissing my forehead. "You are safe now; you don't have to worry."

Apologies for the interruption, sir, but the officers were wondering if they could speak to your wife about the robbery. I looked at him, a small smile on my face, and with a whisper, I told him, "I'm your wife. When did we get married, Elex?" He smiled back at me.

"These people don't want me to come to you, so I told them I'm your husband," and we had a good laugh.

"It's fine, they can come in."

Elex went to sit next to me, holding my hand. I feel butterflies all around my body; I feel safe in his hands.

"Good evening, ma'am, I'm Detective JP."

"Good evening."

"Okay, can you tell me what happened?"

"I was walking to the bookstore feeling like someone was watching me. When I turned around, there was no one. Walking in, I said hi to Mr. Ben, the owner of the store. We talked about the new book that had come in, and he mentioned there was fresh coffee, so I walked over to the coffee stand. It wasn't very busy; I believe I saw about seven people. As I stood there, then a loud noise, something like a 'bang,' followed by a man in a mask standing there. He demanded my phone, but I don't have one. I told him I don't own a phone, but he did not believe me; I was telling the truth. At this point, I'm crying and shaking."

"Did you see the suspect?"

"No, I'm sorry, he was wearing a black mask. Is Mr. Ben injured? Is he okay?"

"Ma'am, you are the only survivor."

I just close my eyes. The officer turned to Elex, "Mr. Knight, we will keep in contact. Take my card if you have any questions," he said as he walked out of the room.

Elex turned to me. "I'll go sign the paperwork. See you in a bit, my love."

"I'm so tired," I simply tilted my head to the side.
