I had to leave. When I was walking with the headmistress two days ago, I never thought I would find someone near death in the woods. Seeing her lying there like that shouldn't have affected me like it did, but I felt like if I didn't help her, I would regret it. I know it was the right thing to do to get her help.

When I picked her up in my arms, she felt like she weighed nothing. I didn't even wait for the healer and headmistress to get to me as I ran straight for help. She had the darkest hair that almost seemed to have a blue glow to it with these bangs that framed her face and made her look enchantingly beautiful. I wished I could have got a look at her eyes before she fully lost consciousness, but she was to hurt to even respond to me other than her little smile that made my heart beat faster.

I have no idea why I am reacting this way to her when I haven't even seen her eyes. When I saw her injuries, I could barely contain my anger. She had a cut near her collar bone that was still bleeding and her wrists looked like she had been tied up somehow. She was running from something and that something had to do with these. The worst that I saw was her face though she had so much bruising on her cheek, and I swear it looks like a handprint. 'When I find out who did that they will die' I think to myself and have to stop myself again. I can't figure out my reaction to her, I need to talk to the guys and figure it out. Leaving her is harder than it should be as I make my way towards my room.

I yell "Guys, family meeting!" as I walk through the door. I go into the kitchen and grab a drink. Going into the living room the guys are already there. "What's up with you" Wren asks looking at me weirdly. Khonsu says nothing but he's standing in the corner staring at me intently. "Remember the girl I told you guys I found along the border" I ask them. "Well, she woke up today and didn't even know this was a school but was informed she had to stay here." "I don't see what the problem is though" Wren says in confusion. "Okay, so I can't seem to shake the feeling that I need to stay with her, and it is getting harder by the second to be here" I tell him and I'm not kidding. It feels like something is standing on my chest and it won't stop. It just gets heavier every step I take away from her.

His head snaps up and he stares into my eyes as he asks, "did you see her eyes?" I shake my head no and sit down. Wren goes to walk into the kitchen when Khonsu suddenly growls and grabs onto his shirt. "Whose scent is on you" he says in a voice that's not his. 'Great Owens out' I mentally roll my eyes. "Dude, I haven't left this room since yesterday!" Wren growls back and tries to pull out of his hold. I can tell this is going to go nowhere so I stand up and go to separate them. I don't realize my mistake until I get close enough to break them apart. Khonsu drops Wren and lunges at me. "You!" he growls lowly and slams me into the wall. "Owen, seriously, what is your problem today!" I ask him not even trying to get out of his grip because I know he won't hurt me. He leans in and sniffs me "MINE." Is all he says before he drops me, and I can see his eyes go from gold to his normal golden brown.

Well, this just got interesting....

"Take me to her now!" Khonsu says to me and begins to walk out the door. "I can't do that right now" I tell him slowly. I brace myself I know what it's like to get in between a shifter and their mate and I pretty much just said I refuse to let them meet. He pauses and slowly turns around, his eyes taking on their glowing golden color that shows Owen close to the surface again. "What did you just say?" they both ask in that creepy double voice they can do. "I said I can't" I tell him and put my hands up, so he knows I'm not meaning any harm. "I can tell you why though if you can calm down enough to listen" I tell him and slowly sit back on the couch. He sits down and simply says "Talk."

So, I tell him all of it. "I found her in the woods barely alive and looked like she had been beaten. I didn't know what to think at the time, so I ran her to the healers. She had bruises on her face and wrists like she had been held somewhere and beaten. She had a cut on her collarbone that was still bleeding and looked like she had been wandering for quite some time by herself. She woke up two days later and didn't know where she was or that this place was a school. She said she was leaving, and the headmistress stopped her saying she needed to be here for school and to find a mate." I paused here to let him take this all in before I dropped the news he wasn't going to like. "Khonsu, when I tell you this next part, I want you to stay calm" I can tell this isn't going to happen he's already trying not to destroy this entire room because I told him she was beaten. "She said she didn't want a mate and would never take one." I look up at him and see his eyes get brighter before he stands and rushes from the room slamming the door as he goes. Wren gets up to follow but I stop him "Don't, he needs some time to cool off." "What are we gonna do? You know the only reason he came to this school was to find his mate" he says. "I know but unless she changes her mind there is nothing, we can do but help him through it."

This may just end up being the thing that sends Khonsu over the edge.
