Chapter 6

Lilith

I freeze. Standing in front of me is a dragon. An actual dragon, that I never thought I would see. 'I thought they were all gone' I say to Elara. She still hasn't calmed down and is chanting mate still then she pauses to tell me that she thought so too but apparently, they are still here because this one is our mate.

I am too shocked to move as I take in this information. The dragon that's in front of me disappears and in its place is a very naked man. I quickly turn around and begin to walk away. "Hey!" I heard him yell and start to run. I can hear footsteps behind me that are getting closer no matter how fast I run. "I just want to talk" I hear the guy yell and realize that I'm not going to get away, so I stop running.

I am panting as he catches up to me. I look at him and see that he has clothes on this time. He is pretty tall if I had to guess I would say about 6 foot 4 or 5. He has rich brown hair that falls in soft waves around his face and golden eyes that are warm and almost intense. He has a lot of muscle, which is common in shifters, and his blue shorts contrast with his golden eyes. When my eyes meet his I can see his confidence and strength. He steps forward and I take a step back. He raises his hands and says, "my name is Khonsu."

I almost stop breathing as his voice washes over me. Elara is almost drooling she's so far gone. I take breath and say, "I'm Lilith." I can see the second he hears me as his eyes snap to my mouth. I lick my lips and see his eyes glow a brighter gold. "You wanted to talk?" I asked him.

"I just wanted to get to know my mate" he replies and takes a step forward. "I know you are scared, but this is a good thing mate are sacred" he says. I can't find a reply in me and just stare at him. He takes my silence as a good thing and walks until he gets almost to me. I finally find my voice and say, "I can't have a mate, it's impossible." That stops him and he looks at me like I've lost my mind. "Everyone has a mate" he says and reaches for my hand. "Let me prove it and you'll see that I am your mate." When his hand touches me, I instantly feel the sparks from his touch.

My eyes go wide, and I snatch my hand away. "There's no way, the witch took you from me" I turn and run as I panic. My mind is racing, and I have no idea what to do. How do know this isn't some type of trick. She made sure I would never find him I felt it when she ripped my bond away from me. The agony that left me almost comatose for a month in that dungeon was real. I ran all the way back to my room and slammed the door, forgetting that Thalia was still there.

She jolts up from her bed and instantly has a spear of ice in her hand. Her hair is wild, and she looks ready to kill. I throw my hands up and apologize "I'm so sorry for waking you up I forgot you would still be sleeping." She drops her hands, and her spear disappears "It's too early, where did you go?" I calmed down and told her that I went for a run and got lost. Then I grab some clothes from my closet and go take a shower.

When I came out, I have calmed down enough to have a conversation. Thalia heads into the bathroom and I gather the stuff I need for my classes today in my messenger bag. Thalia comes out and is ready to go. She put on jeans and a flowy red top that hangs off her shoulders that she paired with red flats and even curled her hair so that it hangs in waves. She has the prettiest blonde hair I have ever seen, and it is almost as long as mine, stopping at the middle of her back. She chose to highlight her bright hazel eyes with white eye shadow and only used lip gloss to give her lips some shine to them. She can tell I'm staring and laughs while asking "Have you never met a siren before?" I look at her and shrug "No, I was never allowed to meet many people my father was pretty strict about me going places without him."

She laughs and comes to stand next to me. My black jeans and emerald green tank top and black leather jacket are quite the contrast to her style. She looks me up and down and says, "I can tell we are gonna be great friends." She gives me a hug picks up her bag and heads towards the door "Come on, all freshmen have the same classes so we should head out if we wanna get the good seats." I grabbed my bag and followed her.

"Which class is first?" she asks as we exit out building. I look at my list and tell her elemental exploration. "Ooh, that one is gonna be fun" she says and picks up speed. I look around and see a bunch of people heading in the same direction we are. Once we get across to the administration building, she turns left and heads to a building that is surrounded by trees. She doesn't go in the building but behind it. She looks at me and says, "The class is too big to have it in a building, so they had a witch enchant the area behind here to keep everyone's powers from hunting the forest."

'What are we gonna do here I don't have any powers. They are gonna know somethings up when I don't try' I try not to get anxious as I ask Elara. 'They might not have any problems with it, you are a freshman. Some people might not be able to like you.' She reassures me. "Alright everyone, my name is Mr. Steinbee. I know this is your first class so we will make this simple. All water elements to the West, Earth to the North, Fire to the South, and Air to the East." He pauses and waits for everyone to go to their spots. When everyone goes, he stops and looks at me. "What are you doing? Did you not hear what I said?" "I did, but I have no idea what my element is" I tell him then mumble "I don't even know if I have one." He lifts one eyebrow as if he heard the last bit but didn't say anything. He turns and looks at everyone else and says, "Each of you will practice conjuring your element and releasing it today, until you are too tired to do it anymore." Everyone groans and looks at him, but they say nothing and start to do as he said. He turns back to me and says, "Follow me."

I follow him back around the building and then he goes inside. I wait outside until I hear him ask "are you coming or not?" I go in and am surprised that it is bigger than the outside. It's homey and has a fireplace that is burning. There is a table and four chairs with different plants and some stones on them. I look around and there are bookcases everywhere, it looks like a small library. "This place is beautiful" I say to myself and jump when someone says, "Thank you." I spin around and see an old woman sitting at the table. She motions for me to sit so I do. I look at her and she looks back at me with unseeing white eyes. Her white hair gives her an almost ethereal look. She reaches for my hand and says, "We need to find out some more about you, don't we Lilith?" I start to pull my hand back, but Mr. Steinbee stops me. "We need her to see what your element is, she won't hurt you Lilith."

I relax my hand, and she goes quiet for a minute. Then her eyes fly open and says, "That is not possible." I look at her for a minute before I turn to look at my teacher. He is looking at me with questions in his eyes, but he says nothing. The woman then says, "She is something special, isn't she?" I look at her and she continues "You have the ability to handle them all, but you are being blocked." I blink and take a breath. 'Did you know about this' I asked Elara and can feel that she lowers her head but doesn't answer. "Why are you being blocked, Lilith?" the witch asked me. I look at her and tell her truthfully "My father thought it would be better for a witch to control them then for me to have any powers at all. I have no idea what I can do because I was never allowed to find out." I then get up and start to leave when the witch asks me "would you like to find out what you can do?"

I don't get my hopes up and say, "unless you know how to find the one who did it, I can't have them back." She looks at me and I can swear she sees me as she smiles and says "I don't have to find her if I am more powerful than she is, and I am. So do you want to have them back?" I am shocked and starting to get my hopes up, so I tell he "Do it, I want them back."
