Chapter 5

Lilith

I sit up and start to look at my new room while Thalia is in the shower. It has emerald green walls and hardwood floors. My bed is a soft pink almost a rose gold color and feels like a cloud after being in the forest for a week. I almost feel bad for being on it when I feel this dirty. I continue to look, and I don't know how I missed the huge circular window between mine and Thalias bed. It looks into a field that has a small lake and leads into the forest. 'I could get used to this' Elara says softy. Thalias bed is a soft golden color. Each bed has a small stand beside it next to the window and a bookshelf on the other side. I get up and look at the desk that sits by the bookshelf and see that it comes fully stocked with everything I'll need for my classes. There is even a small messenger bag that matches my bed.

Beside my desk there is another bookshelf that's empty and a door. I grab the door and open it to see that it's stocked with every type of clothing I could need. 'I think this school has a lot of magic in it' I tell Elara. 'This works out perfectly then' she says back. 'We can stay here and get stronger and learn how to take down our father' I say with anger, and I can feel that she agrees with me. Shutting the door, I can see a soft looking carpet at the end of my bed that has a soft looking rocking chair that almost looks like a recliner with a table beside it. I sit in the chair, and it is as soft as it looks. 'There's a lever, pull it' Elara tells me. 'I don't want to get it dirty' I tell her and get up. I am okay with staying here for a bit to see what we can do about father I think to myself. I go towards the fireplace that's near the front door and see that it's a dark stone that seems to fit right in with the room. I turn around and see a table with two chairs. I sit down there and try to think about all the things I can do here. Instead, I am hit with a memory before my escape from the castle. I get stuck in the memory of the guards' hands as he touched me. I can feel myself start to panic. Before I can panic too much the door to the bathroom opens and Thalia steps out.

"I'm done in there feel free to shower" she says as she goes to her bed and lays down. I say nothing and all but run to the shower. I turn it on as high as I can stand it and get in. I don't even remember getting undressed and I don't care. All I care about is getting the feel of the guards hand off my body. I scrub until it feels like my skin is going to come off and Elara tells me to get out of the shower. I know she feels disgusted too, but she is worried about me. As I got out, I remembered something important, I forgot clothes. I dry off and wrap a towel around me and creep towards my closet. I find some soft night pants and a matching top and throw them on. I dry my hair and take the towel back towards the bathroom, but I'm stopped by Thalia on the way there.

"Even if the skin comes off the feeling doesn't go away, only time heals that wound. Time and revenge." She says and turns her light off. I pause and look at her as she rolls away and I agree. I say nothing as I come out and look at my desk again. There's a stack of papers on the side and an envelope that I didn't see before with my name on it. I opened it and it's my class schedule.

Monday/Wednesday Schedule:

8:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Elemental Exploration

10:15 AM - 12:15 PM: Potions

12:15 PM - 1:15 PM: Lunch Break

1:15 PM - 3:15 PM: Shifting

3:30 PM - 5:30 PM: Creature Identification

Tuesday/Thursday Schedule:

8:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Ancient Languages and Runes

10:15 AM - 12:15 PM: Healing and Restoration

12:15 PM - 1:15 PM: Lunch Break

1:15 PM - 3:15 PM: Defensive Training

3:30 PM - 5:30 PM: Elective or Club Activities

'This doesn't seem too bad. I have taken most of these since I was little, but I hope they are more advanced than what I was allowed to do back at the castle' I tell Elara. 'I think this should be about the same because we are just starting here so we have to prove we need to be in a higher-level class in order to be ready sooner' she says, and I agree again. I smile to myself and think I finally have a plan to take down father. I sigh and put down the paper and get into bed. I groan softly, this bed feels like heaven. I fall asleep quickly, but it is anything but peaceful. I am plagued by nightmares and wake up to Thalia shaking me and looking concerned.

"I am fine, just a nightmare" I tell her, and she doesn't look convinced. After some reassurances she gives me a look but ultimately goes back to bed. I look out of our window and can see the sun starting to come up and I know I won't be going back to bed. I get up and head to the closet to change into some leggings and a sports bra. Both came in the same soft pink color and some pink and gold tennis shoes so I can go for a run. I put my long hair into a ponytail and headed out the door.

I didn't really pay attention to where Alaric was taking me yesterday. To busy worried if someone would find me and try to send me back to father. So, I started to run in a random direction and ended up at the field I saw from my window. This place is peaceful, and I decided that I will run here every day.

As I got near the lake, I heard something come from the forest. I stop and look around. I don't see anything, so I start running again only to be knocked down a few steps later. I look back and see a golden tail. I get up and see the tail go back into the forest and follow it. 'This is not a good idea; we don't know who that belongs to' Elara warns me. 'I'll be careful' I tell her and just as I say that the wind starts to pick up. Elara starts to jump around and gets excited. 'What is going on with you' I ask her. She has never acted like this and while it's amusing it is also concerning. I start to ask her again when she says something that leaves me full of dread.

"Mate!"
