The officer leans forward, his gaze steady and unyielding. "What happened at the party, Tyler?"
I flinch at the question, my mind spinning. "What happened?" I echo, trying to buy myself a moment to think, to gather my scattered thoughts.
"Yes, Tyler," the officer presses, his tone firm. "What happened?"
My heart starts to pound, memories flashing through my mind, chaotic and disjointed. The night, the noise, the confusion-it all comes rushing back, but it's a blur. I can feel the tension building in my chest, the weight of everything that happened.
My eyes drop to the table, and I take a shaky breath. Months ago... my mind drags me back there, to that night when everything changed, and I-
But I can't go there, not yet. The memories are too raw, too painful. I try to push them back, but they're already flooding in, taking me back to that night, back to when everything fell apart.

Lucas reached out and grabbed my arm, his fingers tightening around my sleeve.
"Tyler, please, just listen,"
Lucas cried, his voice cracking with emotion. He looked at me with desperate eyes, pleading for understanding, for forgiveness. For a moment, his words hit me hard, like a punch to the gut. The anger and pain inside me burned hot, searing through my defenses and exposing the raw hurt I'd been trying to bury. But as I stared into Lucas's eyes, I felt my resolve waver, just slightly. I didn't want to care, didn't want to feel anything for him anymore, but there it was-a flicker of the connection we used to have.
"I was ready to break up with my girlfriend for you. I was willing to throw it all away for you," I admitted, my voice heavy with the weight of it all. The confession tasted bitter on my tongue, a reminder of how much I'd been willing to risk for him. I paused, searching his face, hoping to see something that would make this all make sense. But all I found was more pain.
"Just leave me alone, Lucas," I said softly, my words cutting through the silence like a knife. Each word hurt to say, but it had to be done. "I don't ever wanna see you again." I pulled my arm away from his grip, turning away from him and heading back to my house, my heart heavy with the weight of everything left unsaid.
