I closed the call more frustrated than ever.
-"What time?" Seriously, Amber?-
The boy sounded beside himself.-Jake, don't start.-
I exclaimed as I got out of bed.
What an awakening.-He's making fun of you and you expect me to shut up?-
-It's none of your business.-
I watched his figure sit disapprovingly on the mattress. -Today is not Sunday.- He said only, his raven locks falling over his tired eyes.
-He can come.- I ventured.
-I don't want him here.-
He answered brusquely, his rosy lips were tense.-But you said yes!-
-I changed my mind.-
-But...-
-He had his chance, now it's late.-
-I don't understand why you judge him so quickly without even knowing him!-
-Because he took you away from me, Brat!-
His white eyes pierced me with frustration.-By doing that you only make the situation worse! Why don't you understand?- I clenched my fists tightly, my fingers turned white.
-Because despite everything I can't accept your choice, Amber!-
He thundered.-I know he makes you happy, I know I can't give you the same, but I can't do otherwise! I should probably be happy for you, but the more you talk about him, the more I want to smash his face in!- He finally spat.
I felt outraged, why couldn't he just let me go?
Why couldn't he just accept my choice? Or why wasn't he at least pretending?
It would have been easier for both of us.
-My house my rules.-
Clutching his white cane he intimated me to leave with a nod of his head.-If you really want to see each other do it away from me.-
He added before I left by violently closing the sliding door. After tossing a few items of clothing into a bag I walked down the stairs arrogantly.
I had been painting all afternoon, with the door locked to avoid running into Jake.
I set the table for just one person and absentmindedly stepped to the stove; when the boy made his entrance into the kitchen not a word flew.
I watched his slender body settle on the counter stool with false indifference.
Not even a thank you when I put the food on his plate, with his fork he played with it a little.
He was not sorry for what he had told me, but at the same time he did not seem to like that awkward silence.
By the time he decided to break it, I had decided that I had the turn to speak.
-I'm going to Axel's.-
He stopped playing with the piece of meat.
-So what?- The tone was stinging. Why did his indifference hurt me?
-Nothing...just tell me if you want me to call Liam.-
He raised an eyebrow while grimacing.
-Do whatever you want.-As if nothing had happened he went back to eating seemingly quietly.
I tightened my fingers around the bag and aggressively made up the driver's number.
-Hello Liam.-As the major spoke the boy strained his ear.
-Yes, I'm going to Axel's. No, I sleep at his place.-Jake's hand around his fork quivered, suddenly he seemed to have lost his appetite.
