The Dungeon existed long before the gods descended into this world. There was even a city above the Dungeon back then, although it surely wasn't as big as it is today. The Guild was there as well. At least, that's what the book I read earlier suggested.

From this, I concluded that there were people who joined the Guild and fought monsters without receiving any blessings.

'If they could do that, then I am certainly capable of doing it too- that's just a fact,' I thought as I unsheathed my sword and continued deeper into the 2nd floor of the labyrinth.

A horde of three kobolds emerged from the walls, their growls echoing through the corridor as they lunged at me simultaneously.

With a single swing of my sword, I sliced through their throats as if cutting through butter, but it was far from over. One kobold tried to drive its sharp, clawed hands into my back from behind.

I sidestepped, swiftly bringing my double-edged sword upward, splitting its hand. Without hesitation, I grabbed its head, lifting it up despite us being the same size.

'Call it confidence or arrogance, but it's just the truth,' I mused as I crushed the kobold's skull in my grasp, the sound of cracking bone reverberating through the second floor of the Dungeon.

Of course, I'm not foolish enough to think that no monster could touch me, much less kill me. There's always a bigger fish-or in this case, a bigger monster. I continued my descent further into the second floor.

There will come a time, in the near future, when I'll need to join a familia. But until then, I'll satisfy my curiosity by testing my limits within the depths of this labyrinth.

It was early evening, and for the past two or three hours, I had been continuously slaughtering goblins and kobolds when suddenly...

Schlop Squelch

A sudden, sticky, wet noise echoed around me, causing me to stop in my tracks. I quickly scanned the area, but to my surprise, there was no one in sight.

'Where exactly is that sound coming from?' I wondered, tightening my grip on the hilt of my sword.

A sticky, water-like substance dripped in front of me from above. That's when I realized the source of the sound.

My head snapped upward, and I saw a brown, quadrupedal lizard monster clinging to the wall with sucker discs on its feet. Its saliva-coated mouth was drooling, clearly hungry, and I seemed to be the perfect candidate for its next meal.

"Oh well," I muttered indifferently, my eyes as calm as always. I recognized the creature as a Dungeon Lizard, a monster that could be found between the 2nd and 4th floors of the Dungeon, according to what Rose had told me earlier.

'They're known to attack by climbing walls and jumping down on people, preferably from ambush,' I mused, my golden-brown eyes locking onto the creature despite the dim lighting on this floor.

It suddenly lunged at me, slamming its body against mine. The lizard was now on top of me, its tongue salivating on my shirt, then it lunged at my face to bite me.
