CH 10. Origin story.

“Listen closely (Y/N), April. I don’t remember a time before living in that laboratory.” Splinter started resting on a mat in the middle of the room as all the brothers, you and April, sat down around him.

You and April were sitting in front of him, while the brother sat off to the side.

“That fateful night started like any other…” He said looking off in thought as he stroked his beard.

“Sacks gave us our injections...” Eric Sacks was in the lab with April’s dad, Mr. O’Neil, and another scientist as they suronned a table.

Sacks was holding onto one of the turtles in one hand while holding a syringe in the other. Slowly injecting the turtles with mutagen as it squirmed around in discomfort.

“Your father made sure our vital signs were strong…”

“And you two, as always, provided us with a special treat...” April was holding the camera while you reached down into the tank, holding the pizza out for the turtles.

Them taking a bite off the edge of the pizza and then disappearing under the water, making you giggle.

“After the brothers went to sleep, I heard loud voices…” Sacks and April’s dad were arguing, while standing next to the mutation. Before the scene changed, showing Mr. O’Neil grabbed a blowtorch off the table while he looked over his shoulder.

“There was the smell of smoke, alarms sounded. Your father had discovered the truth behind the man he was working for, he set fire to the lab…” Fire went unblazed all over the lab as Mr. O’Neil walked over to the canister of mutation using an object to smash into it, shattering glass everywhere as the mutagen spilled out.

“His last breath was taken, trying to destroy Shredder’s plan. I was terrified…” Master splinter's nose twitched in panic, squeaking in fear when he heard a loud bang behind him.

“But then you my dears, appeared…” The door flew open as you and April ran into the room, immediately raising your hands as you could feel the heat against your skin.

You peered past your fingers before gasping when your bandages caught a flame, and quickly patting down your arm.

“There!” You heard April before looking where she was pointing, seeing Splinter’s cage broken and tipped over on the table as April carferly graded him out, holding him in her hands.

You quickly made your way towards the area where you knew the turtles would be, before stopping in your tracks when a walk of fire was blocking your path.

Sweat was falling down your face from the heat, as you looked past the fire to see all four turtles on the floor surrounded by glass.

“(Y/N)!” April called out while clutching Splinter to her chess as you didn’t think twice before jumping past the fire to the other side. Quickly picking up the turtles before running back to the entrance.

“And ushered us to safety” You and April ran outside leaving the burning building behind while running to the other side of the street.

“I never had a voice then…” Squatting down next to a sewer drain, you and April look at each other before setting down Splinter and the turtles.
