Heroes and rescue personnel swarmed around the sunken island. They searched the ruins underwater and found many things. The infrastructure went deep underground but most of it was impossible to access since most of it was buried under tons of concrete, steel, and water. Another thing they found was bodies, many were drowned but a few showed signs of being in a battle. The people investigating the sunken island could guess what the base contained when they found research equipment that would beggar some countries. It was a research facility and they didn't know what they were researching since everything was destroyed. Glass tanks were shattered, equipment burned, and files ruined.
The people trying to find survivors were soon ordered to leave the island to people in uniforms belonging to the HPSC. Heroes in their colors confiscated anything the rescue teams found and were told very firmly to leave the work to them. The heroes not working for the HSCP argued but when their agencies called them to return, they had no choice. There were many questions about what had happened and what they were working on that they kept so secret. There were no answers.
The first thing Izuku did when he left the island for good was to fly high into the sky. Above the clouds, Izuku watched the sunrise and smiled brilliantly at the beautiful scene. He played with the clouds that slipped through his fingers and got soaking wet when he dove through a particularly thick cloud. He laughed with joy at the feeling of fresh air hitting his wet frame. For a while, he just flew above the clouds. Flying was still new to him so he wanted to play with his new power. He never got to experiment with his quirk, only told to train and do exercises they ordered him to do. Now, he can see what he could do.
First, he looked straight ahead and then pushed himself to fly as fast as he could. There was a sonic boom as he shattered the sound barrier instantly. His long hair was pushed back as he felt the wind trying to burn him due to the intense friction. His strong body held against it very well. He stopped and turned around to see the clouds in his flight path had an Izuku-shaped hole in them. He grinned at the display.
Next, he wanted to see the limits of his strength but he had no real way of testing it at the moment so he let it be for now. His laser eye beams were in a similar boat but he remembered how effective they were against anything he shot them at.
Last, one power he believed had was some sort of adaptation. He remembered having to spend his training time in really cold or hot rooms and as time passed the feeling of burning or freezing diminished. It wasn't the same as him getting used to being bored but not getting affected by the extreme temperatures. He then looked at his wrist where the bracelet still was there. The same bracelets that made him feel sick and weak when he first put them on. Now, it was an itch he could ignore. Something his body, or quirk, adapted to.
He touched the bracelet, the last thing connecting him to the island, his prison. He tore it off and stared at it. His mentor, the bald man, the man who trained him, and encouraged him in his way. Izuku felt his eyes water before he crushed the bracelet and then dropped it into the clouds below him. The bald man tried to stop him but the last words spoken would always stay in his mind. Wiping his face, Izuku flew down to find Japan. The place he lived at but never saw.
Izuku floated over a sprawling city and had no idea what to do. He knew many things, and he was very good at learning but he was never taught what to do when he was finally let out. What was he supposed to do? Where was he going to sleep? And most importantly, how was he supposed to get food?! He was beginning to get hungry but he managed to stave off hunger when he was punished.
So he watched from high in the sky, he watched people walk around going about their day. He watched and learned how they interacted with each other. How they went into buildings for some reason or another or drove cars. Izuku didn't know how cars worked and hoped he never needed to. Then he watched how people gave money to people for food, Izuku had no money and he was never taught how to use it. He pouted and his stomach grumbled.
