The goat Lady was walking fast and was not really easy to catch up to. A reflection of my own body showed within those stairs, even if it was hard to see it. They must have been used in better times to reflect more light to make the room shine. It felt...sad to see that the place looks so abandoned. The name RUINS sure has its meaning cut out. As I walked through the big door and pushed some veins aside, the goat Lady stood next to a locked door. At the right side were some sort of pressure plates on the ground while nothing was on the left side. A sign was on the wall however, yet it was to far away and the words on it were something I couldn't read at all. My feet echoed on the path under me as I left enough space between her and me. Just to be safe.
„Welcome to your new home, innocent one. Allow me to educate you in the operation of the ruins."
Operations? This place looks really run down, so what operations are needed? Or was it more a warning to not go anywhere too broken apart pieces. I glanced to the Ghost Child, but they flew next to me in silence, as if there was no part explaining it. Yet I desperately wanted to ask again how the name of the Goat Lady was, hence I didn't really listen back to her introduction. But asking directly would seem as pretty mean right? My attention got back to the goat lady as she stomped at those pressure plates that remained sunken down once she pushed them and once the lever was pulled, the door opened. My eyes widened as I stared from the door back and forth as she came walking back.
„The RUINS are full of puzzles. Ancient fusions between diversions and doorkeys."
Would it be rude to interrupt to ask what diversions are? I heard many big words from adults, but none of those were as foreign to me as those are. And I knew a lot of words for my age...or so the teachers always said. My hand began to rub my arms, the sleeves going up and down a little as the goat lady kept talking.
„One must solve them to move from room to room. Please adjust yourself to the sight of them."She went outside of the room as I got closer to the pressure plates. Even a slight tap pushed them down into the ground which made me giggle a little. I than walked up to the board on the wall, but it all looked like gibberish. Maybe the Ghost can read it?
„Hey...can you help me read this? I have no clue what that says."
They came closer to me and sighed annoyed, but looked at the plate and began to speak.
„Right, you didn't learn monster signs. I would advise for you to learn it once you got time because you will have plenty of that."
„I don't think going to school is my main goal right now..."
„Fair enough. Okay let's see..."It got quiet for a little before they began to read out loud.
„Only the fearless may proceed. Brave ones, foolish ones. Both walk not the middle road."
As they stopped talking I frowned and looked from the pressure plates and back to the sign.
„Was...Is this a tip on how to solve the puzzle?"
„Yep. Some down here love to make puzzles so be aware of them."
„But...a normal human can't read that. How is this supposed to be a help than?"
For a split second, it seemed that they agreed, but than only rolled their eyes and floated forward. Guess I got no choice but to follow to the next room. One question immediately got back up...how come those rooms are so bright? Given there are no light sources outside the walls, nor anything else that could light up the room, how is nothing pitch black? It feels like that shouldn't be normal...but than again, what is? Maybe those ruins have an old light source that brightens everything up.
„To make progress here, you will need to trigger several switches. Do not worry, I have labelled the ones that you need to flip."
She continued further into the room as I walked closer to the sign in front of me, but yet again, I could not read anything. And the Ghost seems to annoyed to read anything for me again. The sound of flowing water went through the now silent room and I ran towards it immediately. It was so clear that my reflection was to see. The Crystal blue was a reminder of when the sky once was also so clear. And how wonderful it was to count the clouds. I took a handful of that water, thinking it would be cold like water should be if it is out in the open...but it was warm and soothing. From the looks of it, it flows from the inside of the walls to the other side of the wall. Is this some sort of water system? Or perhaps a sewer? But it's way to clear for a sewer. And it doesn't smell bad, more like...flowers? It is some sort of flowery scent, yet I couldn't pinpoint what sort of flowers they were.
„If you keep wasting time, you will get old in this room."
